Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe only negative was that the room was right off the lobby and there were people above us so a little noisy, however this is pretty normal when staying in any hotel.
We were so excited to stay here and everything met our expectations. We had our dog with us which is why we picked this hotel. They were totally accommodating and the room allowed for us to let our dog out directly outside our room into a gated area which was very nice. There were snacks and the most delicious pastries in the morning. It is walking distance to many shops and restaurants, and it was just so adorable! We loved it!

I loved this hotel in every regard. The hotel was charming and the location was perfect. I have been converted from where I used to stay. I will only stay at El Portal in the future.

United States of AmericaHonestly, we really didn't find anything we didn't like.
The location is absolutely perfect; easy walking distance of many nice restaurants and a lot of shopping areas. Steve Segner, the owner, who is heavily involved in the operation every day, and his knowledge and tips were invaluable. He gave us a route to the Grand Canyon that avoided much of the overabundance of tourists (like us!). He also directed us to the best and most scenic areas around Sedona, so we wasted very little time searching for things. The hotel itself is amazing, containing an unbelievable amount to art work, period furniture and antiques. Steve and his wife, Connie, have been collecting all their lives, and their collection is amazing. The hotel itself is a re-creation of a century-old inn, built around a central garden and fire pit and done so well that one would never know it is only 20+ years old. We spend a good deal of time just enjoying the hotel and its surroundings. Complimentary, snacks, sodas, excellent coffee, a very nice continental breakfast, etc.; there really wasn't much of anything we'd want done differently. You will love this place!

United States of AmericaThat we couldn't stay longer.
We loved our stay at El Portal. It's a charming and welcoming stay. The outdoor fireplaces had the best smelling wood! They just don't make places like this anymore. Everyone that worked there treated us like family. We were close to shops, great restaurants and hiking trails. My daughter enjoyed the pool and hot tub access. The room was extremely comfortable, the bed, sheets were perfect and I loved soaking in the tub after long hikes. My husband was ready to move in. We'll be back!

United States of AmericaBest accommodation for our entire trip. What a gem. The owners were incredibly friendly, we truly enjoyed our stay. You can tell they take exceptional care to all the fine details to make sure your stay in Sedona is wonderful (how could it not be?). The first day we showed up the property was hosting a historical society event we were attended (with great food). We loved the honesty bar with s’mores and sat outside both nights and enjoyed the fire. My son loved the fish, the chocolates, breakfast muffins, and we spent hours at the pool and hot tub. The room was clean and comfortable and the hotel is walking distance to restaurants and shopping. We couldn’t have picked a better stay all around.

United States of AmericaWOW this place blew my expectations out of the water! The hotel itself is in a perfect location. The room..wow. It was SO cozy and they really put effort into making you feel at home. They had a basket prepared for my dog with dog treats, blanket, and poop bags. The entire experience was magical and I wish we could've stayed longer. I highly recommend for anyone!

NetherlandsI slept on the sofabed which was far from comfortable! It seemed a bit old and worn out. Although plenty condiments were available for free, when you don’t eat sugary processed food, the options were non-existent
I love the hotel’s design and atmosphere. It was a bit cool and the warm fireplaces in the lobby and our room were so comfortable and cosy. The ensuite room I booked for me and my mother in law was super spacious and cosy and I loved the views

GermanyIt is basically my dream house. Everything you see is beautiful. Art on the walls, beautiful lamps….The lobby and the fireplace are so cosy with excellent reading material and conversationalists. Looking at the red rocks while having the beautiful breakfast is breathtaking. We were visiting family in Scottsdale over Christmas and needed some private time after a few weeks. Also we missed our cats….a case of serious fluff withdrawal….so seeing and meeting all those lovely dogs and peanut the cat was almost therapeutic. The owner and the staff are wonderful and Steve has amazing stories to tell. The fire pit and the entire yard are adorable. Fairylights, comfortable chairs and blankets….everything doesn’t just look beautiful, but feels cosy as well. The room was one of the most romantic rooms we have ever stayed in….brass bed, rocking chair, fireplace…..a dream come true. I would move in there, permanently, in a heart beat. We will definitely return ( and although I hate flying, I will gladly hop onto a plane for 11 hours to return to this gem of a hotel. My husband feels the same way, too.
