Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Elevators were insufficient, we waited constantly for elevators. Inefficient cooling system constantly switching on and off. Room got very hot very quickly. The rooms with two full sized beds were a little too tight to be comfortable for four people.
Location is very convenient to Times Square. Beds were very comfortable full sized beds (not queens). Breakfast was pretty good quality with decent selection. Rooftop access has great feel with Times Square lights! Free baggage holding service with quick service. Very functional kitchenette and well designed shower/bathroom. Staff were very attentive and helpful!

The shower floor should have been painting over.
It was nice breakfast was served there. The location wasn’t bad either. Everywhere we went want that far away from Element Hotel.

Bedroom is too small. Hallways are too tight.

The bed was a little soft for my comfort level but still fine to sleep on. We were on the second floor so we could easily take the stairs when needed but the elevators might be a bit of a wait at times.
Room was spacious and comfortable. We appreciated the refrigerator and kitchenette. Nice breakfast buffet. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Late checkout (noon) was standard which was great for our travel day at the end of our staff. The location is an easy walk to Times Square and all of the theaters but not so close that it was noisy or bright at night.

The lifts are a nightmare. During our stay, one lift was out for the majority of the time. I waited 7 times before I could get into a lift that wasn't crowed to bursting point.
The location is superb for exploring NYC. The room is comfortable, had a slight issue with the plug in the hand basin, but this was quickly fixed by Engineering. Breakfast is very good, you have to pick your time though if you don't want to brave the hoards between 0730 - 0900

Elevator gets busy. They only clean rooms every two days.
Very friendly and helpful stuff, checking in was automatic and they let us do it a bit earlier. Room has a lot of equipment, full fridge, stoves, plates, dishwasher, beds are comfortable and AC and heat work great. Breakfast has many options and they constantly replenish.

Little tired damaged furniture
Location excellent. Breakfast good Fresh water in lobby Happy hour although never in hotel in time to try! No issues with lifts only a few minutes wait and breakfast always able to get seating. WiFi fast. 4 of us showering each day always plenty hot water

So this was my BIG issue. I have no idea what happened with my bed before my stay but it’s like that mattress had been run up and down by a truck. Honestly it was extremely uncomfortable
The location is excellent, especially at this price range. Very nice bathrooms

The view of the room. The waiting for the elevators was chaotic. Lucky for us, that wasn't a problem because we were on the sixth floor. For us, the breakfast wasn't good.
The room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was friendly and after 6 pm they gave a cocktail and snack. They let us leave the luggage. Good location if you want to be near Times Square.

There is no early check-in, not even if you arrive just 30 minutes before check-in starts. The elevator is also slow and you might have to wait more than 5 minutes for an elevator. Also, the sheets seemed clean but if you pull those up, the mattress protector was covered in hair and that was really gross.
The location was convenient to the subway and our room had views of the Empire State Building. The breakfast was free and had a wide variety of options that changed every morning.
