Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

First they put us in a room with a broken heater and we had to request to change the room but they immediately changed us to another room.

During my recent stay booked through Booking.com, I was shocked to discover overcharges compared to the rates I had initially booked. Upon querying the reception about this disparity, I was informed that it's standard practice for the hotel to charge more than what Booking.com quotes. This revelation left me utterly surprised and dissatisfied. I had meticulously booked my accommodations based on the rates displayed on Booking.com, only to find myself confronted with unexpected charges upon arrival. Such a blatant deviation from the advertised prices not only undermines the trust in the booking platform but also reflects poorly on the transparency and integrity of the hotel's pricing policies. As a customer, I expect clear and consistent pricing, especially when booking through reputable platforms like Booking.com. The lack of transparency and the dismissive response from the reception further exacerbated my disappointment with the overall experience. This discrepancy between the booked rates and the actual charges is unacceptable and has left me with a sense of distrust towards both the hotel and the booking platform. I strongly advise other travelers to exercise caution when booking with this establishment and to clarify pricing discrepancies in advance to avoid similar unpleasant surprises.

There is no bedside lamp, so bring a flashlight if you plan to read in bed. The showerhead leaks in the room I was in, so an extra valve has been installed to turn it off. Remember to open the valve to use the shower. I could have booked a less expensive place, but hoped for something a little better. I should have saved my money and gone to a cheaper place.
The location is excellent, price is mid range, and I was able to book at the last minute when stranded by a storm. Chipotle and Whole Foods a few blocks away. Bus stop right out front eastboound.

Wasn't as clean as possible. The bathtub "spa" didn't work. It was a little outdated. There are no good channels offered on tv. There's no phone in the room to contact the front desk.
The bed was comfortable. It was a great location, only 1.5 mile from Casino and closer than that to stores and coffee

Checking in was a challenge because there was no staff available or on site when we arrived. The fridge was not working, table was about to fall apart, and the dresser drawers were not properly installed.
We like the location.

There were bugs all over the bathroom and flying around in the bedroom (at least that's all we could see). There were holes in the wall, paint splashed around in a few places...floors were dirty and the beds were super uncomfortable. Curtains covered the heater, so we had to tie them up with a hair tie, and we couldn't wait to get out of there. Shower was super small too. I wouldn't recommend this place!

The room smelled pee, heather didn’t work and entire carpet was wet. Towels were wet as well.
