The breakfast was horrible! Ran out of food so there was only cereal. Even if it was stocked, it was pretty lame compared to other hotel breakfast.

The room was very nice there was enough space for everyone. It was quiet and there was no noise from other guest. It was located close to good food and easy access to the interstate.

I was disappointed that the "hot breakfast" did not include meats on either of the mornings I was there. That was strange, as I have never heard of a hot breakfast that did not provide either sausage or bacon (or both). Typically a hot breakfast includes waffles, too (which also was not available), and sometimes biscuits with sausage gravy (also not available). The hot breakfast was one of the things I was looking forward to most and the #1 reason I picked this hotel over the others. Keeping scrambled eggs in a warmer is not the same thing as serving a hot breakfast and should not be advertised as such. The only hot options were scrambled eggs one day and a potato/egg mix the other day. Admittedly, there were a few sausage crumbles in that potato/egg casserole, but not much (there were a lot more veggies and potatoes than meat), but that is definitely not the same thing as serving sausage or bacon.

Almost everything about my stay was good. Very friendly and efficient reception staff. Well-maintained and clean facility. Easy access to the interstate and restaurants, and also very close to the IWU regional education center. Ample handicapped parking very close to the entrance. I did not use the free wi-fi because it had no password of any type and therefore was ripe for security threats.

Didn’t like how they charged my credit card. I used my credit card to hold three rooms for my family. My family paid for their rooms before leaving to go home. I paid for mine. I have pending charges on my credit card for the two family members as well as mine. They paid for their rooms but I still have charges on my card for their rooms. This isn’t right !! I better not have to pay for their rooms as they have already paid for them ! I’m so disappointed in Fairfield Inn , Merrillville, Indiana !!!!!

There was a big stain right on the center of the sofa cushion. And there was mud (I hope it was just mud..) smudged on some of the room items- for example, a door hanger. I think some updating and mindfulness about even the small details would go a long way.

Loved our room layout with a separate room for mom and dad and a pullout sofa in the living room for the kids. There was plenty of room for all of us. The staff was very friendly and welcoming!

-Our first room was dirty, specifically the pull out bed had chunks of something all over it. -There were no sheets blankets or pillows for the pull out bed. -The phone didn't work in the room so I had to walk down to the front desk to tell him what was going on. -He wouldn't give us keys to new room until we got all of our stuff out and turned keys in to first room even though it was 2 doors down from where we were. -The front desk clerk was burping and doing other very odd stuff while talking to me. He also tried to get me to stay in the first room by telling me to just throw sheets over the chunks of dirt or food on the mattress. -Only one ice machine in the whole building worked and it was on the 1st floor, we were on the 3rd floor.
