Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

NetherlandsThis is my third time staying there. The first two times were excellent. This time, however, our room smelled. The curtains to the bunk beds were also stained. I had to body slam myself against the door for it to open or close, but I understand that it's an old building.
Great location, beautiful bathrooms and lobby, and a great price.

CanadaBring ear plugs if noise bothers you. We could hear the music from the bar plus lots of outdoor noise/sirens etc. during the night. Our room smelled unpleasant and the carpet had stains. This hotel needs to rip out all the carpet and replace it with floors that are easy to keep very clean.
We were very warmly welcomed by Matthew at reception and the other people working at the hotel were friendly too. It has a great atmosphere and fun music. The parking is close by and Matthew went out of his way to help us figure it out! FreeHand is in a really great location with Trader Joe's a short walk (3 minutes) away, tons of restaurants/shops and the nearby beautiful river.

United States of AmericaOne of the first times I stayed, we opted to not have maid service, and posted the “no thanks” on the door handle. Came back to find all of our things haphazardly tossed into our luggage and moved so the maids could service the room. I felt very violated, someone unknown to me had rifled through my things, I had specifically requested that this NOT happen. The “no thanks” was still hanging on the door. I didn’t want anything for this but a reassurance this would be handled and not happen again. They never apologized and simply gave me the business card for the head of housekeeping and told me to email them. Not professional. This last time we stayed, we were lounging in the room when at 10:04 the maids entered the room. We were shocked, and half dressed. CHECK OUT IS AT 12:00. She was surprised I didn’t speak Spanish, then returned with her phone to translate. She asked when we would be leaving, I typed into translate that we would be there until Noon, because that was check out time. She said ok thanks and left. ONE HOUR later a different maid entered the room!!! I am disgusted and disappointed that this hotel cannot get this under control. These incidents were one year apart. Besides the fact that housekeeping cannot speak with guests who do not speak Spanish, they are basically left to their own devices and decide what they will do, completely disregarding the GUESTS OF THE HOTEL WHO ARE HELPING TO PAY THEIR WAGES. I am so disappointed in this, but I cannot stay here any longer. I have given them ample opportunity to fix these issues, and they have no regard for their guests. Unfortunately, we will take our stays elsewhere.
Such a fun “hipster” hotel, great lounge and bars! I really like this hotel, but have had some serious issues with their housekeeping staff.

United States of AmericaLooked like it was in need of a “refresh”, “spring cleaning” or update to the room I stayed in. The bedside lamp was broken, there was lots of dust surrounding the overhead room lamp shade, the dimmer switch was glitchy and didn’t work and the paint had many cracks in the bathroom. Nothing big to be upset about, but was noticed and now am being asked about.
The location was very convenient for work travel. WeWork coworking spaces, eating and public transportation. Also the ambiance of the public spaces (lobby, hallways and bar) was beautiful. The staff was super friendly and gave good suggestions for local amenities.

United States of AmericaMy bed sheets had a blood stain on them and were torn. It was very unsettling since I didn’t notice this until I was going to bed in the middle of the night after a long day. I didn’t sleep well because of it
It’s a solid hostel in a great location with a cool bar in the lobby.

United States of AmericaThe air condition in the room is broken, but the staff offers us the baby heater, which is useful.
There is no breakfast service in freehand i suppose. But they have bar in the lobby which is quite convenient for young people to hang out or grab a drink. Next to Freehand, there is a CVS which is very convenient to get bottle water or snack to eat. All in all, Freehand's location is near downtown and very cheap. I really recommend it.

United States of AmericaIn the middle of the night, the fire alarm started beeping very loudly. I tried to call the reception multiple times but nobody answered. I had to get on a chair and disconnect the whole thing myself. At around 8:00 am I came down to the reception and let the clerks know what happened and that the fire alarm was disconnected. They didn't even apologize and when I came back at around 12:00 pm nobody had come yet to fix the fire alarm.
The location is great. The rooms are small but clean and comfy.

Czech RepublicThe rooms were a bit smaller than expected. Also, even if I asked in the reservation to be in a quiet room, I was initially given a bed in a room with an infant/toddler, and the bed I was assigned to was in use by someone else. I had to go back to the reception and ask for a new bed/room. I was moved to a different room without too many questions. Also, given that it's kinda hostel, a shared kitchen corner, or just a shared hot water station for tea/coffee, is definitely missing...
location is great, and I was lucky to share the room with some pretty nice people (in the end). The bed is softer, but nothing terrible (after 12h flight your priorities change). The bed sheets were clean. There is a safe in the room, and it's great (don't forget to bring your lock). That is also where you'll find your towel...

ZimbabweIt's been over a month, and I still haven't received the refund that was promised to me. It feels like a form of theft in broad daylight, especially considering that we were supposed to pay $50, with the assurance of a refund, yet nothing has been returned to us up to the present time of check out.
