Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomMy room was shared with 3 others. There were secure lockers under the bunks but you needed to supply your own padlock. I didn’t know this beforehand so did not have one. I just had to trust the people I shared with. As a partially disabled 84 year old accessing my top bunk was difficult.
Good in both cafe and restaurant was very good. Staff were extremely helpful and polite and were instrumental in making my short stay in Washington DC a pleasurable experience.

United States of AmericaDisappointed by night staff who said I'd be charged extra to change rooms, when I realized that my dorm room was "mixed" gender. I stayed in the original room - it was awkward but acceptable for me and my 3 male roommates. However, I would have felt much more comfortable if the hotel had been more customer-oriented in this case.
Clean, inexpensive, hip.

United States of AmericaExpensive. Resort Fee? My 1st night was $54...had I stayed 2 nights the 2nd night would have brought my total to $149...THAT IS A HOSTEL BED FOR an additional night for $95...I took a pass on that. These quoted prices include tax & a resort fee. I'm more comfortable with Hostel beds hitting a $35-45 price point. I am fond of this property but am also inclined to stay in a private DC area hotel room & pay the $20-30 more than the $95 quote. For me the privacy, larger bed, private bath, better lighting & a large flat screen television.
The staff, common area & location.

United States of AmericaThe only thing that made th e stay difficult was getting parking. I wish I had just parked down the street from the beginning. After reading online that there was an attached parking garage, I circled 2x and called the hostel. No one answered, and I ended up having to move on to the timed event I was in DC for. I emailed the hostel from the venue and did not hear back. I ended up circling the hostel 2x more times in the dark, this time on the phone with the front desk. It ended up just being best to go down the street.
--Location was GREAT! --I was so grateful that you accommodated the bottom bunk request! I know that it depended on other factors, but I was still very grateful. --Set-up downstairs for reading/writing while roommates were sleeping was EXCELLENT. Best of any hostel I've been in.

United States of AmericaThe things people say are true but didn't bother me too much. My main beef was the dim lighting - I was tempted to pick up brighter LED bulbs so I could read better. They really should upgrade these bulbs - it would make a big difference. Also, the USB and plugs embedded in the headboard didn't work, so I had to run extensions, which I always travel with. They should fix these. The artwork was indeed a bit creepy, but that's the intent, and I got a kick out of it - e.g., where else can you see a portrait of Jefferson with what looked like a classic pair of witch's hands reaching affectionally around his head? It was something! Lots of young people come here, which IMO adds to the vibe, but there can be lots of chatter in the corridors before 10 (the doors are on springs, so can slam shut), but it quiets down quickly afterwards.
The hotel was very clean and it was comfortable. The staff was very helpful too. The cafe had an excellent breakfast. It offered a lot for a budget hotel. Location was convenient.

United States of AmericaMy bed was uncomfortable, might be my luck maybe a different room had better beds, and the morning shift receptionists were not friendly and welcoming, probably they are overworked and exhausted.
I liked the location, its 1.9 miles to the White House and 1 mile to the zoo in the opposite direction on Connecticut road, We walked everywhere and sometimes used the scooter and it was lovely. The local restaurants close to the hotel were great, and even delivery was good. The neighborhood was clean and safe, if you enjoy walks this location is for you. The cafe and bar in the hotel were also pretty convenient. Housekeeping came in daily to freshen up our room, there was laundry on site which was also convenient.

United States of AmericaNo microwave in the rooms or available in the hotel, but there was a fridge. The walls were also kind of thin and allowed me to hear full conversations from one side of the room
I liked the location a lot, only a 5-7 minute drive to one of our main nightlife destinations (U Street) Theres several restaurants and bars nearby. Super grateful to be a block away from Walgreens Pharmacy for quick needs

United States of AmericaThe ladies at the front desk did their job well, but they were not very friendly and no smile. Maybe this is normal in a city hotel and I shouldn't complain. The hotel restaurant had a nice atmosphere and the people working there were very nice and friendly. Unfortunately, the food was not to my taste, but you might like it.
I stayed in the Female Dormitory Room on Friday night. If you don't want to pay high hotel costs but don't want to stay at regular hostel, this hotel is good for you. The price is much higher than a regular hostel but much lower than other hotels on weekdays. The weekend price is very high for a dormitory room in my opinion and I moved to Days Inn. The facility is new and clean. The room is smaller than I expected and very dark. Dark rooms are uncomfortable, but it is good not to be bothered every time someone turns on a light. The bed space has a curtain, light, and outlet. The bathroom provides only toilet paper and hand soap but nothing else. You should bring all your toiletries. You can borrow a hair dryer at the front desk if you leave your ID.

United States of AmericaIt's an uphill slog from the metro. At times the music from the restaurant was too loud.In a 4 bed woman's dorm I shared the space with quiet, considerate travelers until the last 2 nights when a woman coughed and hacked and kept her light on all night, washed her panties in the shower and unplugged the room's heater( turning the room frigid) because "the noise hurt her face". Not the hotel's fault, but 4 days of a 6 night stay were fab, while 2 nights were more than a tad uncomfortable.
The lobby and rooms were clean. The staff was efficient and friendly. It is in a safe area, near the DuPont Circle metro with many restaurants nearby, as well as the coffee bar and Mexican restaurant on site. There were private areas in the lobby where you could work. The front desk was always manned. Guests were an interesting mixture of old and young from all over the world.

ItalyThe hotel was not particularly clean. When we arrived in our room it was pretty dirty, with fingerprints on windows, not very well cleaned bathrooms, and humidity pretty significant humidity stains on the ceiling. Also the parking was not clear from the booking, it said private parking; once you get there they then tel you though that the price is 45 dollars per day, with no discour for hotel residents. I understand parking is expensive in DC, but they should be more transparent.
The location is really nice. Also some of the general architecture of the hotel is interesting.

United States of AmericaHad a bad experience with Front Desk Associate-rude and condescending. Shared concerns with the Regional Manager (Allen). Apparently, he addressed the issue so I won't write details here to take away from the other great staff.
The lobby aesthetics is nice and inviting. I enjoyed the breakfast, but I feel some items are overpriced. The restaurant, Hoja Taqueria, was good-wonderful atmosphere and service! There are many great food options in the area also. The location is great! Nice Farmers Market, near Dupont Metro, every Sunday.
