Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaSettee/stool would be helpful in the room (303)
The location was perfect! You can easily walk to most destinations - wharf, shopping, mansions, restaurants, beach. Gilded was lovely. It is well maintained, clean and has creative decor. Great pillows and bedding! I truly enjoyed communicating with the individuals working at Gilded. Breakfast was excellent - something for everyone!

United States of AmericaThere was an area for pool outside our room. Thank goodness no one played while we were there or else the noise would be bad.
The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. The common areas were really comfortable, well thought out usage of a restored and converted house.

United States of AmericaThe breakfast. While breakfast was made to order given the low occupancy, I think a continental style breakfast would go a long way because it minimizes the amount of cooking the staff has to do and it provides a bit more variety for breakfast.
Very beautiful property. Very vibrant and colorful. My room was upgraded due to it being the end of the season and low occupancy. The property is in walking distance to the Wharfs and their downtown areas. The Gilded has a sister property that gives you parking access to walk Cliffside which was beautiful that early in the morning.

CanadaIt would have been nice to have a little kettle or coffee machine in the room. A mini fridge would be a bonus too.
We were staying on the main floor and had a little sitting room. We brought our breakfast every morning back to the room which was great. We stayed for 3 breakfast so there was a good variety over the stay. It was also a nice touch that there were cookies to grab throughout the day.

United States of AmericaThere was some confusion initially about checking in when I spoke to someone on the phone. Fortunately, when we arrived, there was a very inviting staff member to welcome us who was able to show us to our room and explain the ins and outs of the facility.
The room and facility were great. Breakfast in the morning was really interesting and different. The staff I interacted with in person were warm and friendly.

United States of AmericaWe were a bit disappointed with the shower. It was very narrow and small with poor water pressure. I also noticed some old dirt/hair in the shower suggesting it wasn’t fully cleaned in between guests. Fortunately the rest of the bathroom and bedroom was clean.
We stayed at the Gilded for the Newport Folk Festival and it was the perfect location for us to get downtown before and after the festival. The hotel itself was lovely with colorful decor in an older vintage-like setting. The staff were very accommodating, even letting us park on site the morning we arrived to town before check in. The complimentary breakfast each morning was delicious! It was a definite upgrade from typical continental breakfasts and included lots of great options (fresh fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, ham, homemade banana and zucchini breads, scones). Our room was cozy and our bed was wicked comfortable.

Hong KongOur room was on the very top floor and quite small. It was cute and well decorated but a tight squeeze for the 2 of us and our luggage. There is also no elevator which meant dragging suitcases up 2 narrow flights of stairs .....not a massive issue for us but could be a challenge for others.
Great decor and location. Breakfast was a lovely mix of freshly made warm and cold items.

United States of AmericaSometimes the music in lobby area was irritating! Or maybe just not our style. Not a big deal really
Enjoyed everything. Great location, not far from the main street and trolley. Room was very big and comfortable. Breakfasts always consisted of a variety of items including delicious Overnight Oats. Host gave recommendations and instructions. Felt safe and secure. Maid brought fresh bath towels daily and made our bed. Would Definitely recommend.

United States of AmericaWe didn't like having to drag our luggage up the stairs, but this is consistent with the age of the building. The room was a bit small. The breakfast was beautiful but eclectic.

United States of AmericaThe temp was ok, but we like to run a fan especially when it gets stagnant. The forced air typically has a “fan” mode for comfort or just to increase air movement. No such thing. We like the sound too a note but it wouldn’t work while we were in our room.
Breakfast was excellent. Most important meal of the day. We are both lactose intolerant regardless plenty of options. We love fresh fruit and oats. Elizabeth made fresh egg to add to her spread. We drank plenty of coffee all day.

United States of AmericaI want so badly to LOVE this property! There are so many lovely things about it. Our stay this year was definitely better than last, because the room was MUCH cleaner and bigger with room to walk around a bit. The down side, the air conditioner was not working , so we were provided a fan. The fan was so loud that it was hard to sleep and we had to turn the tv volume up to hear (which may have bothered the other guests). I would love the bathrooms to have better lighting so you can actually see to get ready. I also wish they had as much personality as the rest of the hotel!! Lastly, for the price per night, I would like to have a few more amenities (qtips, laundry bag, mini fridge, snacks) and housekeeping without having to ask for it.
I love the location of the property, the interior design, morning breakfast (although I wish there were more dietary restriction options) and ample parking ! The welcome toffee was a very nice touch!
