Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyI booked the Inn as our last step before flying home. I wished I booked a whole week here or at least 4 nights. It reminded me of Gilmore Girls. We had two rooms with fireplaces, so realxing! And the breakfast - it was so good and free too. Absolutely loved it. The staff was also so friendly and the Inn is only a 5-10 minute walk from the ocean and it seemed like the central street. I would love to visit again. :)

IsraelWe booked two rooms for us and our 3 kids. Unfortunately one of our kids had to sleep on a thin futon on the floor. As our party size was clearly set this was a negative surprise. Had our kid slept on a normal bed the rating was 9.

United KingdomNothing everything was perfect.
Being from the UK I had a desire to visit the California coast line (not too far from San Francisco). I booked here thinking it was near Monterey - a 6 minute drive. Oh how glad I did book this place, a quite beautiful town, lots of lovely places to eat and not from Carmel - a beauty on the coast. The hotel was perfect, the staff so nice, the breakfast top notch, and a relaxing vibe everywhere, flame fire in the evening, not drinks and a glass of wine ....... perfect perfect perfect. Not to mention everything was spotlessly clean and beds were so comfortable. I'm not visiting the area again, but if you do stay here!

United States of AmericaWe were disappointed in the decor. We remember previous trips, like time travel, back to a different era, with all the antiques and old fashioned furniture. The remodeling brought the Gosby house "up-to-date," but we feel it has lost its unique charm. Sadly, we will probably not return.
The staff and hospitality was superb!

United States of AmericaThe room (Jewell) was listed as having a Queen bed but it felt more like a Full size - this is a trend that is increasingly seen in many hotels these days. When you say Queen, lets make sure it is Queen. And the pillow top mattress was too squishy for me. It was a not a problem for us, but during the day (9-6 pm) parking is restricted to 2 hours which may be a problem for some.
The property was well located on the main street of downtown Pacific Grove, with plenty of parking around it. Lots of restaurants within a short walk, and the waterfront with lovely walking/biking trails was only 4-5 blocks away. The rooms were well appointed with good amenities including a coffee maker, refrigerator, iron, and fan. In addition, there was coffee, tea, cookies, and water/soda available 24 hours in the lobby area. The overall decor was very charming with lovely flowers in and around the property; lots of nice touches. The breakfast was good with enough choices, and the evening wine/cheese reception was a pleasant surprise. And there was a nice LCD TV with a decent number of cable channels.

United KingdomThe only suggestion for improvement we would have was that our room was on the ground floor next to the breakfast room and kitchen. At 6am the staff began work preparing breakfast and were quite noisy, clattering plates and cooking utensils disturbing our sleep. A minor point in the scheme of positives, but, something that could be considered and addressed.
Located in the downtown area of Pacific Grove this hotel provides a small, friendly, family run feel. It is a converted large family home built in the Victorian era so has plenty of character and old fashioned features. Our room, The Jewell, was adapted for mobility use so it had a large wet room. The bed was extremely comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. The only downside was there was no hanging rail for our clothing, only hat and coat hooks in a cupboard with 4 hangers. As we were staying for 4 nights a facility to hang clothes would have been preferable, although there was a steamer in the room to iron clothes. Wine, cheese, crackers and a cake were provided free of charge every day between 4 - 6pm, which was a lovely touch, and provided an opportunity to meet and talk to other hotel guests. We found this a great social forum and very interesting way to learn more about America and American life.

United States of AmericaThe decor was interesting yet comfortable, modern with a touch of antique. The building itself could use a bit of upkeep and repair. The only contact I had with whoever is running the inn was the receptionist, who was very nice. Usually in a B&B, you have more interaction with the people who run the Inn. Note that the inn allows children, there was a crying baby in the evening and for a short time at breakfast.
the Gosby is a beautiful old house/hotel. the buffet breakfast was good, but not exceptional. I liked the serve yourself wine and appetizers in the evening, but it would have been nice to know what winery the wines came from. I really liked the room we stayed in (#3).
