Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomA little bit tired inside (allowing for the fact that it's an old building)

United KingdomThe bed was really high in the John Grisham room. My husband said the room was the best we stayed in during our 3 week road trip but the I didn’t sleep so well. I guess it’s a matter of taste!
The property was well appointed and spotless. Situated on a quiet residential street about 0.5 km from the main mansion Duff Green where breakfast was served. Free parking. Breakfast was a real occasion, served at a set time in one sitting followed by a tour of the mansion house.

United KingdomBreakfast was adequate - basic sausages, small portion, tinny orange juice, cake seemed to have been made from packet mix. No choice about service time. Rushed because there is a tight window before the tour starts. Bedroom was underwhelming. Some good attention to decor in line with the John Grisham theme but overall the building is very tired. Good value: priced appropriately for the basic standard. Room was a bit cold - there is no thermostat in the room but we later found one in the hallway. Bed was the highest we have ever seen - mattress too big for the frame - but once we climbed up it was comfortable.
The main house is stunning and the tour was very interesting.

United States of AmericaA little more time at breakfast would have been better. I felt a bit rushed to finish so the table could be cleared and the history of the home could begin.
The breakfast was good and servers very attentive. Our table always had lively conversation with folks from many different places. It was an enjoyable experience and added another dimension to our vacation.

AustraliaHalpino is located in the historic district of Vickburg. The historic district is actually quite a run-down area, with many dilapidated houses, but it's not an unsafe area. Halpino is only 300 yards from the Duff Green Mansion and other historic homes.
Halpino is a small guest-house, located in an historic building that used to house law offices. The rooms are all named and themed after writers from Mississippi, a cute touch. The building is lovely, comfortable beds, nice shower, free coffee facilities on site. It's a short walk to downtown. Halpino is run by the owners of one of Vicksburg's most historic houses, the Duff Green Mansion. I'm not sure if it is just an off-season perk, but our booking included breakfast at the Mansion and a tour of the building by the owner of both the Mansion and Halpino. She is a wonderful storyteller and her love for the house and Vicksburg were evident. The breakfast and the tour were a great experience. In summary, those wanting a more historic stay would probably stay at the Duff Green Mansion, and more budget travellers at Halpino. Both were great. I'd stay here again.

United States of AmericaThere was no ice in the icemaker, there needs to be another end table or desk to put things on. There were no hangers although the staff supplied when we asked. The comforter appeared stained in spots. The vanity coating was rubbing off when I wiped down with a tissue.
The breakfast was great everyday. The staff was very accommodating. Walking distance to downtown. Loved the tour of the Duff Green Mansion. Our host, Harley was very gracious and supplied what was missing in a very timely manner.

United States of AmericaI thought the floors could have been cleaner. Its a minor quibble, since they weren't bad. And it may be difficult to keep an auxiliary building like this super clean.
The tour of the Duff mansion was incredible and the breakfasts were great. Really enjoyed the stay. I was very comfortable. The Halpino is centrally located, making it very easy to get around.

United KingdomLocation was great for walking into Vicksburg: just a few minutes. Breakfast was at the main hotel just one block away which is actually a 19th century mansion offering silver service and guided tours. The staff and service were 1st class. Halpino is 6 rooms in a separate building and it is lovely. Highly recommended.
