To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaIt took a few days to get clean washcloths. We ended up buying some from the local Walmart. The laundry area wasn't working, so we had to go to the local laundromat. Also, there was no mention of a dog fee ($100) when I made the reservation. But, it showed up on my bill when I checked out. I would like for there to be better communication between the hotel and Booking.com. I had to extend my stay due to Hurricane Ida, and I had to stand in the lobby while the hotel staff and a Booking.com rep coordinated the extension.
The staff were all friendly. But the lady and man that worked the breakfast center were especially friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable. They required masks at the breakfast area.

United States of AmericaI didn’t like that there is a $100 deposit, and when I extended my stay they made me check out and check in all over again requiring an additional $100 for a deposit. Also didn’t like that there wasn’t a microwave in the room.
The breakfast was pretty decent and the location was great!

United States of AmericaThere were ants and spiders the room. We told front staff, they gave us another room. Second day we tried to shower and needed to take a 2 hour shower because the water pressure was so low. We told the front staff again, and their maintenance staff told us they needed to fix the pipes so to switch rooms again: I told the front manager, and he was SO rude and gave us “ 20 dollars off one night” as is his solution. I asked to speak to his manager and he stated “ he’s busy right now”.
