To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

GermanyThe accommodation is located in Hayes Valley neighborhood, full of nice cafes and great restaurants, however, this is really close to Tenderloin neighborhood, infamously known for drug use. The closest two BART stations are quite sketchy during night time and better avoided, better take an Uber/Lyft from the airport. If you are arriving during the day it should be OK but be ready for some walking dead scene on these two stops. I'd still stay there if I were to visit SF again. Bear in mind the hotel has no staff AT ALL so make sure you provide your telephone number and download the app in advance that opens the door. Room is a bit too hot

Affordable and clean. The kitchen area is nice with free coffee, hot chocolate and tea. The best part for us was the luggage drop off option.

United States of AmericaThere is no front desk worker at the hotel. Check-in was difficult because we couldn't get in the building. They never sent a code to get in and we had to wait for a cleaner to come in the building to let us in. No one answered the number to call left by the front door. Directions about calling in advance should be way clearer, emphasizing that nobody will be there to let you in. Also, the simple breakfast which we really enjoyed on prior visits is no longer a perk and no coffee or anything else.

United States of Americano onsite staff to be found only Hispanic construction/cleaning workers encountered with very little English fluency. My room was located at an entirely different address a block away and around the corner upstairs. would never have found it without Hispanic worker calling someone and leading me to that location. better communication needed from ownership. no inside lock on door for added security once inside room and electronic entry didn't always work as smoothly as would like.
Able to stay in same room after having to extend stay. bus stop access very good and lot of foot traffic to and from vibrant bar-restaurants along the street.

Czech RepublicAt first we were placed in a building around the corner, bc we were staying for a week. The room there was not pretty, the kitchen was unequiped and everything seemed dirty. To that place was also different code that was not sent to us in advance. Afterall we asked for room switch and everything worked out.
The location was great. The shared kitchen has pretty nice view and was pretty much clean.

United States of AmericaNo Elevator. No staff. The key software is an annoying cost-cutting move. I couldn't "loan" my key to my son. The staff (chatbot?) couldn't help. The level of service you provide to be called a "hotel" or "inn" is higher. If you're just looking to rent a bed/room it's fine and the location is great.
