We didn’t like the fact that there was only valet parking. We drove a long ways and had to go back and forth to our vehicle several times to fetch things. Our room was right beside a service elevator which was used as late as midnite ( and sometimes early in the am), and it was noisy. Also the garbage trucks came every morning at 6am and beeped as they backed up outside our window. Third, there were people talking somewhere around the building around the same time in the early am. Lastly, temps were in the 40’s outside at night and the heat was turned off in our room. We asked for a heater, which was brought up, but this tripped the switch, and we were then without power for awhile and we were scared to use it for the rest of the stay.

The property was close to everything downtown. The building had a lot of unique history. They offered champagne on arrival and they had one night in lobby with music and champagne. The staff were nice and the people around town were friendly.

The front desk staff were disengaged, inattentive, and at times even rude and unprofessional. Both of our card keys did work on multiple occasions and we had issues with the heat in the room. There are a number of hotels in downtown Asheville within the same price range that offer much better customer service. We live in Western North Carolina and visit Asheville regularly. Most likely we would not stay at this hotel again.

Great location in downtown Asheville! Located in a former department store, the design and ambiance of the hotel had an idiosyncratic and quirky character. The room was very spacious and clean.

The room they gave us was near the dumpster and where deliveries come in. It was loud. When I told the person at the front desk they said ok. The gentleman didn’t care at all. He let us check out 30 min late. I got no sleep. I would have paid for a quieter room

While the mattress was in good condition, it was very stiff/firm for us. We're side and stomach sleepers and shoulders hurt in the morning. This is very subjective though and other rooms may have different mattresses. Probably great if you're a back sleeper. Sheets were clean and bright white and pillows were great. Had a good mini fridge but no microwave so that would be a nice addition.

We like that the hotel was originally a department store many years ago. Love the architecture and design of the entire building. It's an older building but well maintained for the most part. Could use a few building maintenance improvements here and there but just the finer details. A lot of it adds to the character of the place. We had room 207 which is a king suite with a whirlpool tub. The room had lots of space with a pull-out couch. Very clean. We interacted with I believe six different staff members and all were extremely friendly and helpful! Downstairs is a handmade chocolate store. You can watch the chocolate being made from the interior hallway. Walking distance to great restaurants.

These wasn’t a complimentary breakfast which it said there would be on our booking. That was disappointing, but the hotel overall, was wonderful.

Key cards wouldn't work and the tv remote at night was pretty annoying to use. Otherwise, no complaints at all and those are less than mini minor issues.

Huge rooms right downtown, with a pretty delicious brunch spot in the lobby. Didn't try the spa, but now wishing we did.

I didn’t like that the website says complimentary breakfast when that wasn’t the case. And it would have been nice to have the option of using valet parking instead of it being a requirement.

The hotel's hot water supply was compromised, and we didn't have hot water for a shower our last day.

Great location in downtown Asheville. Close to most everything we wanted to do. Valet parking is expensive ($17/day) but well worth it on a rainy day. Without it we would have gotten soaked on the day of our departure. The rooms are very large and comfortable. The hotel is beginning to show its age, but we found it to be fine for our purposes. Also, the hotel is pet- friendly, a consideration for us.

I like my home better than any hotel. But this is a super nice hotel.

Was shocked at the homeless population in downtown. For the most part we felt safe, but there are a few of them that need to be moved or forced out of town.

Our room was larger than most hotels we've stayed in. Excellent location. Walking distance to everything downtown.

The property is very cool in concept (converted old department store theme). Unfortunately there are things that need updating for the rates charged. The HVAC system is difficult to control (no thermostat). The bath, although spacious and nice is also older (the commode seat was cracked). They offer valet parking (supposedly 24/7 access). Often nobody was manning the valet desk and there were several mornings we had to literally find someone to bring our car around when we needed to be at a training class on time.

The property is centrally located in downtown Asheville, so walking distance to most restaurants and downtown activities.

The hot water for the shower was hard to operate and took quite awhile to get hot enough. The sound of the exhaust fan in the bathroom was quite loud.

The room size was good and bed sheets were quite clean. The staff at night checking time was quite friendly and helpful.

construction directly outside of elevator on our floor- 4 workmen, ladders, cables and drop cloths everywhere pastries at restaurant for breakfast were over priced and not great $27 for 2 pastries and 2 cups of plain coffee was ridiculous spending half an hour on hold and never getting through to staff.

Valet parking only but it is downtown and space is sparse so…and the valet service was timely Cleaning staff was sloppy, first they didn’t clean the bathroom sinks and one day we came back from a hike at 4 pm and our room still hadn’t been cleaned
