To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaMy only complaint is the temperature of the room. We turned the air all the way down and the lowest the temp went was about 70 degrees even with it being about 40-50 degrees outside. I cant imagine how hot the rooms get in the summer. Thankfully we had a fan we brought from home and we cracked the window at night.
The location was perfect! The staff was exceptional! We always had exactly what we needed throughout our stay. Our kids loved the gym and pool in the evenings.

United States of AmericaNo scenery. Felt like I was in an ancient hotel. The floor I stayed on felt like it was 1950's. The lobby area on the floor needs to be updated. The room didn't have a microwave. I paid for cheaper rooms that had microwaves in them.
The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Loved the international banquet hall.

The location was great for us to walk everyday and not need a vehicle. The room was clean and had everything we needed to be comfortable. We enjoyed the history of the property and the staff was very nice.

ChinaThe room is not cleaned on a daily basis. No bottled water in room. Very few coffee/tea facilities, e.g., no cup, no plate, no spoon, only two glasses in all rooms including the restroom. Cannot image how two people can drink and brush teeth with only two glasses.
