We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaThe floors turned the bottom of our feet and socks black. The bath towels were threadbare, and there were holes in the sheets and mattress cover. There was no coffeemaker in the room, nor was there any type of breakfast in the morning.
The hotel was in a central location to the places we wanted to be. Pets are allowed, and although we did not bring ours this time, this is one of the biggest reasons we have chosen this hotel for the past few trips to Portsmouth. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The parkinglot was well lit and neighbors were quiet.

We were put next to room who slammed the door all night long, the people were yelling all night long and you could smell weed being smoked in a non smoking area. We just left early and rented a room somewhere else to get some sleep that morning before heading back out!

United States of AmericaWell where do I start... Waited 10 minutes at the front desk for help. We arrived at 7pm and a room wasn't cleaned yet, so a short wait for that. Thankful the floors were NOT carpeted, but definitely barefoot not the best idea. Lighting was super bright with no lampshades. Why you ask ? To help the roaches scatter as you enter the room. I got greeted by Carl the Cockroach coming out of the tub drain while trying to pee. The TV was left on full blast by the housekepper with no remote in the room at all. Nice to have AMC on but I'm not hard of hearing and there was no remote in the room. Had to go back to the front desk for the remote. Beds were clean but one step above laying on the kitchen counter with blankets and flat pillows. Long story short, one I opened the door and saw the bent door jamb around the lock, I should have suspected more. Don't recommend.

United States of AmericaWhen I got there the lady at the front desk was extremely rude. When I booked the room it was for four adults she told me they don't allow 4 people in the room. She would check with manager and for me to wait 30 minutes. I come back and also let her know I have a dog she charges me a 100.00 deposit and gives me room 109 when we get to the room there are no mattresses on the beds trash everywhere someones socks on the ac. The shower curtain on the floor what looks to be some type of stuff on the floor kind of looked like 💩. I go back to the front desk to inform her about the horrible room. She tried to argue and say the room was fine. She did offer us another room but said it did not have a TV. At this point I was over it and asked for a refund. She did refund my pet deposit. But not my money for the room. We were in town to see a concert that we never got to see. I am out over 200 dollars because of this.Stay far away from this place
There is nothing good about this place. It needs to be closed down.

United States of AmericaHad to literally yell to get any service. When my card declined due to shorter funds and went to pay with a different card, they left. Had to yell 3 more times to get some to take my payment. Also a lot of yelling at a really late hour (possibly due to other visitors)

Never called me to ask if it was fine or anything. The men thought it was still someone else's room that previously stayed there.
