To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

CanadaBathtub must have had a nonslip decal at one time and it wasn't removed properly. Tub looked very dirty!!!! Whole building smelled like pot. Very strong smell in front lobby. I believe the staff were smoking it in reception area.

United States of AmericaThe room has mold in the shower. The pillows were small and we were told there wasn’t anymore available. The room smelled like cat pee, TV wouldn’t turn on and using the coffee pot tripped the room breaker.

United States of AmericaThere were not enough towels in the room. There was also a big sticky mess on the table in our room that I cleaned up before using. There were a few spots on the floor that noticeably had something stuck in them, they were black, squishy, and sticky. Most discouraging though were the large amounts of hair (head and facial) that were around the sink area. I can excuse certain levels of uncleanliness like dust on window sill, an old stain in carpet, but the issues I noted just shows lack of attention to details and attendants not being thorough. The room was comfortable and we enjoyed the amenities, but basic cleanliness is first in my book.
The room had nice amenities (fridge, microwave, iron, etc.) The breakfast was good. The water that was out was not good though. Seemed like it had been sitting in the dispenser for days, was warm and discolored.

United States of AmericaPaid $90 for a room. Get there and check in, drive around to the closer door I am directed to. Room is fine and then I see the fist size holes in the bathroom door. Open said door to 6 inches of green standing water in the tub. All this after first key doesn't work. Go back to the desk and get put in a different room with an exterior door, convenient. Until it will not open when I come back with food. At least I know noone is getting in there while I am sleeping on top of the covers.
Breakfast was fine, appreciated coffee and a banana. I needed a room due to weather and it was close to where I was. Priced higher than it was probably worth, the sign saying low weekly rates was my first clue. Bur any port in a storm.

United States of AmericaWater faucet wouldn’t shut off. 2 lamps didn’t work (unplugged and no bulb in at least one). Poor repair - needs paint, wallpaper. Microwave turntable didn’t fit (sent food flying). Noisy. Halls not vacuumed. Only bread and cold cereal for breakfast bar. I was overcharged $15.42 from the price of my booking.com reservation and the staff said it was set by Booking in computer and couldn’t change.
