To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

CanadaRoom was not clean. Really bad odor everywhere in hotel. Paint is very old and peelling. Far away from any convinience store. The room 148 has been smashed by police and was not locking correctly. I've not seen an hotel in that rough condition, even in Cuba.

United States of AmericaWe really needed a ground floor room especially during the Fire Alarm situation, it was very difficult for me to get my husband down from the 3rd floor to the 1st floor on a walker with stairs. And it was very difficult not to have a luggage carrier to use to get our luggage down the 3 flights of stairs.
Room was fine and watching the parade was nice too.

United States of AmericaNo hot water just warm, lighting too dim, room keys not working had to have them rekeyed again, back door facility not working properly again, room baseboards are falling off or are apart from the walls and plugs are not properly maintained, they're broken in bed areas, used shampoos in the tub area, and toilet not cleaned on 1st floor #147.
Bed comfortable, AC working nicely, good cold fridge, microwave worked, 1 handicap chair was actually available as it was desperately needed & immediately.

Room also not very clean, some small trash left behind. No coffee maker, no cups. States having to ask for any kitchen stuff, but at least a coffee maker in the room would have been nice, along with some paper cups.

United States of AmericaElevators weren't working again and we were on the 3rd floor, we were there in June and they weren't working then either. It was hard walking 3 flights of stairs with sciatic nerve damage plus carrying luggage. The bed was too hard also.
That the hotel is close to the appointments my daughter has at MD Anderson.

United States of AmericaDoor lock looked broken or burned, but it did lock. Back door to parking lot always propped open with a piece of wood allowing anyone to come in and out. Several homeless people living in that back parking lot. No security camera at that back door. Mold in the ceiling of the bathroom. Will not be coming back.
