Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SerbiaNothing in particular, everything was super nice.
Awesome host, location, bed, tiny things like a super soft bathrobe, wireless chargers, plugs next to bed, USB plugs, small fridge. The hosts really thought about everything. It's a beautiful old Hollywood home that's worth visiting. Definitely one of the best experiences ever. Would recommend to anyone looking to explore LA for few days or more.

AustraliaNothing at all would definitely stay again!!!
Was very much against staying at a homestay until i stayed with Shay and Ginger. Could not recommend them enough!! They were so accommodating to any questions or issues we had and were genuinely some of the nicest people i've ever met. For the price you cannot go wrong, room is super clean, smells amazing and they have any necessity you might need. To top it all off the location could not be better, right off the main strip but in a quiet cosy street.

United KingdomKeypad entry, I'm number dyslexic.
Location, you would never know you were right there in the gateway to Hollywood. Bars and restaurants and mere minutes away. The metro is a couple of blocks, so you are right between downtown and Universal Studios..

BelgiumShay & Ginger are incredible hosts who really made me feel welcome in their house. The house is comfortable, clean and peaceful. I didn't want to leave! The location is great too, only 2 steps away from the Walk of Fame and the metro. The Hollywood sign is visible from the other end of the street and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars around. Overall, a great stay! I'll definitely book with them again next time I'm in LA.

United KingdomThe house was lovely extremely clean and with more than enough of amenities you need. It felt like home, the vibe was lovely the location excellent, in 4 minutes there was shops and restaurants. I loved the way everything was there for guests and that also was so clean! The best for me it was to get off the shoes before going into the house, this is a big congratulations because it stands out the quality of people living and providing this service. The bed and the pillows were extremely comfortable which make me wanna stay in bed rather go out! I loves it!Lovely host and great talking, guiding and recommending places etc. I highly recommend, it's a very unique place with a lot of love from the hostes.

The warm welcome from the wonderful hosts Shay and Ginger. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and we thoroughly enjoyed their company. The facilities were also great in this unique, character filled property, which has a very central location. Highly recommend....book early to avoid disappointment ! Many thanks to you both, for your kind hospitality. Keep on rocking ! Matt and Elaine

ItalyThe hosts are very accommodating but the kitchen and common seating spaces are shared with them and this can make it feel awkward if you want to just stay in and cook or just have your own breakfast together. Probably our fault that we didn't do enough checking before booking.
The hosts are very friendly and the bedrooms very comfortable. Great attention to detail. Very quiet location and yet still in the heart of la.

GermanyNothing - everything perfect
We had an amazing time at the House of Alchemy. Loved the neighborhood, loved the house -the room, the interior, the garden - everything was perfect for us. Additionally Shay is an incredible host. She takes care of everything for her guests. We had a free parking lot, washing machine for use was there, drinking water next to the sink and even an umbrella in the room! There was nothing else we could have asked for.

Czech RepublicThere is one bathroom for two rooms, so it depends who is in the other one.
I think the best location, if you want to visit Walk of fame. 5 minutes walking and you can see the stars on the ground. And not so far away from metro or bus station.

BelgiumThe only problem I had was that there were no power outlets available close to my bed side. Although, there was one close to the bedroom door on my partner's side of the bed so it's not a major issue
The owner is incredibly nice and helpful. The room was super comfortable and clean. As a bonus, the hollywood boulevard was within walking distance of the apartment (and having anything touristy within walking distance in LA is luxurious enough to be mentioned)

SwitzerlandMaybe we just did not pay enough attention to detail when booking, and personal preferences should not be mixed with good/bad ratings. But the advertisement does portray a high-end, high comfort, high privacy stay, when in fact it is really just an AirBnb-style single room in a shared flat setting with a shared bathroom. It's a highly unusual accommodation for booking.com standards, and I was really reminded of my student times, sharing a flat. - Despite being advertised as highest "privacy" and "tranquility", it really is quite an immersive experience, with a very friendly landlord explaining where to put your shoes, how to park the car straight, and 2 very lively dogs between your feet every now and then - The shared bathroom (incorrectly advertised as 'private' at the time of our booking) is opposite to the kitchen, so if you roam there in boxers you might want to greet the landlord in the kitchen - The room itself is OK - rather on the small side with very hard pillows - The description is overall too strong on the storytelling side of things when compared to facts: -- there is a garden in the backyard and of course the house has windows, I am not sure I would call that a "view" -- there is a sofa in the kitchen, not sure that constitutes a "lounge" -- the house has a kitchen, not sure I would call that a "café" -- of course the house has a standard central heating system (overhead/ceiling air outlets), but there is no individual temperature control/AC in/for the room. It was intermittently blowing hot and cold air straight into the bed - we did in fact have a slight cold the next few days - probably related
Super friendly hosts Very secure, including on-site parking Perfect location Very clean Nicely decorated Free premium toiletries Great free coffee & tea Lots of plants, scent of incense and scented candles
