Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe last day there was unpleasant. I thought I had booked an extra day through booking.com but it turned out I had not. House keeping knocked at my door and I told them we had one more night at the hotel, well the house manager called our room and he was very rude. He said that we needed to leave and we were not booked for an extra day so I double checked my Booking.com and it turns out we were not. I told him we would pay for an extra day he said no we needed to get out. I told him well you need to give us at least 30 minutes to get out, he seemed like he had an attitude with that statement and he finally was like OK hurry up. So then last day at the hotel was horrible due to the house keeper manager being extremely rude. I told the manager downstairs what happened and she said no we could’ve stayed an extra night. I told her we didn’t even want to stay an extra day because the housekeeping manager was extremely rude to us, she did apologize on his behalf, but his rudeness just left a horrible impression.
The property was centrally located and had great restaurants in the area.

United States of AmericaOur only main complaint was that our toilet wasn’t working properly. Couldn’t get it to flush and ran a lot. We called maintenance, but it took a little time we didn’t had, so I actually somewhat fixed it and we were good after that.
Great location. Staff was friendly. Valet was super easy. Nice continental breakfast and coffee & water bottles were always available. Super convenient.

United States of AmericaFront desk staff have poor/ no customer service. Not really helpful or concerned to resolve problems.
Our original room had damages to room and furniture as well as poor view of a brick wall. I informed the Assistant Manager Ms. Coakley of our concerns and she upgraded our room to a suite with city views! The room was amazing. Great customer service from management! We enjoyed our getaway.

United States of AmericaThough it is referred to as Historic District it really is outside of the district far enough that walking to the historic district was not practical. Overall the cost of parking was ridiculous. Between the hotel parking fee, tipping the valet, and then paying again everywhere we went in town it added over $80 per day to the visit.
The room was spacious. It was more like a suite, with living room and kitchenette although we didn’t need or use it.

United States of AmericaOur room was very stuffy and seemed a bit run down considering how new the property is. It was not as clean as I would have liked it to be, the closet needed to have better storage because our clothes were literally dragging on the floor, valet parking cost should be lowered $34 a day is a little steep when it shoukd be inclusive with the room rental, last but not least a valet worker left someone else's car keys in our vehicle which ended our night prematurely because we had to travel 45 minutes back to the hotel to return them, which was an annoying experience considering that we were from out of state and were out with friends. Although it may have been an honest mistake, it was extremely inconvenient, and the hotel offered no accommodations, considering it was their mistake.
It was located downtown Charleston
