To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaI did not know that the only parking option was valet and it was $50 a day. The site said there was a parking garage. Definitely not true. Our room was across the street from a bar so the music was very loud until 2am every night.
It’s very clean, everyone is so friendly. I love the history behind the place. The room was comfortable.

United States of AmericaThe whirlpool tub in our room was super loud. I used the jets only once. I let the front desk know and they made a mote of it. Hopefully they can replace the motor so it can be quietly enjoyed.
We always love to stay at Hotel Icon! It's close to the places we want to go for nightlife, drinks and food. I love the decor and the rooms are really big as compared to some other hotels. This is our single go to hotel when we go to downtown Houston.

The hotel was ABSOLUTELY beautiful! The bed was so comfortable, the staff was so nice and professional. I highly recommend staying here, and it will now be the only hotel I stay at when I'm in Houston for a show at Theater Under The Stars. It's within walking distance to a lot of different places to eat as well, with a pizza place literally across the way. 10/10
