Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaInn at the Opera was absolutely delightful. They really should update their photos, because they're obviously quite old and I was astonished by how much nicer the room was in person. It was, in fact, three entirely separate rooms (bedroom, living room, kitchen/dining room) and two large bathrooms. Way bigger than expected. We were also delighted to find a king bed rather than a queen as described, which was extremely comfortable with down pillows and cotton linens. The staff were wonderful. This stay was excellent. Far beyond our expectations, and a remarkably good value.

United KingdomVery small matter - the phone number of the Inn is not readily available until after a reservation is made. After that, communication is great.
The staff was friendly, courteous and genuinely interested in having us receive quality service and enjoy our stay. The location is perfect; it is near many fine arts facilities (symphony, opera, library, museums, city hall …). There is also a vibrant restaurant/nightlife area within walking distance.

United States of AmericaNothing. We loved everything.
The hotel is perfectly located to walk to the opera, City Hall, SF Jazz, and all of the Hayes Valley shopping, restaurants and parks. It’s a beautiful, very safe area, and the hotel is beautiful, as well.

United States of AmericaThe pipes could be a little noisy depending on the heat setting.
Clearly recently refurbished - a beautiful, totally charming boutique hotel next to the ballet. Rooms, hallways, elevator and lobby were all thoughtfully designed and a very relaxing place to stay. The location was very central but the street we were on didn't feel unsafe at all. The facilities all worked very well also, and every member of staff we spoke to were friendly and helpful.

United States of AmericaBed was smaller than expected (not a queen size bed). The shower head had terrible pressure. I think it needed to be declogged maybe? The coffee bar could've used more/better creamer.
Room was nice. The bed was comfortable. The thermostat was great to be able to turn the heat up. The bathroom was nicely remodeled. The carpet was nice and plush. Free wifi. Friendly staff.

United States of AmericaLater check out time Leave more coffee packets in room Larger fridge in large suites
At check in, Elizabeth was friendly, and informative, detailed info on garage access perfectly. Suite was larger than expected, and nicer. The bed was luxurious. TVs were older and slower, but enhanced internet ($10/day) was very good. Kitchenette was nice, fridge is a the usual mini fridge - so difficult to do anything more than reheat stuff. Linens were very good. In room coffee was good (Lavazza grounds for you to brew) or get a cup in the lobby. In the halls, you can hear conversations in rooms. But in our room, we did not hear conversations. Bathrooms very nicely designed and roomy. For the neighborhood - it was around Christmas, so the opera and symphony were in full swing, with people Of all ages dressed in finery. They were ignored by the street people. I never felt threatened or unsafe. Recognition to Elizabeth, and Paris, at the front desk, for their friendly manner and advice on a variety of issues.

United States of AmericaWe did have trouble getting the heating system to warm up the rooms adequately. It was baseboard heating which could only warm so far.
One of a kind. We stayed during Christmas season, so the first floor lobby and hallways were decorated elegantly. The staff was welcoming, helpful, professional. Our room was huge with plenty of closet space and sitting areas. We enjoyed the classical vibe as if we were staying there while attending a performance at a nearby music venue. Plenty of food options nearby , too.

CanadaThe room had a large coffee maker, dishware etc, but was too small for a table and chair. I tried making coffee the first morning but it was awkward on the bedside table. Luckily, they have coffee in the lobby everyday. I had an issue with noisy screeching pipes one night but after I reported it to the staff, they immediately sent someone to repair the problem.
The inn is a very charming boutique hotel perfectly located near the Civic Center, opera, symphony, and ballet in a neighborhood with lots of great restaurants. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. My room was small but very comfortable (maybe too small for two people). And it was a great value for Hayes Valley!
