To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Very horrible experience and told me my money will not be returned to me on the card I gave. It will be refunded, According to Management on a card that is not mines. Plus, they charged me more more than what booking said I will be paying.

United States of AmericaInTown canceled our reservation even though I followed the directions from Booking.com to contact the property. I tried calling and I messaging (more than once) to let them know our flight came in at 10pm, past the time of check-in and I was concerned about getting in. They never responded. When we arrived at 11:30pm we were locked out, had to find a different place to stay, and the next day we were told they cancelled our reservation because we didn't show up during check-in. They said that they never saw my communication through booking.com. Now Booking.com nor InTown Suites will take responsibility. I've tried talking to customer service through Booking and I was given an email to submit my situation. The email doesn't work. As a backup we had to stay at Sleep Inn. Again, I went through Booking to reserve our stay. Booking is charging me more than what Sleep Inn has printed on my receipt. I've gotten no response when I message customer service about this. I will never use Booking.com again.

United States of AmericaThe room was much smaller than advertised. The floor was dirty. The room smelled like weed. There was police and paramedics that showed up close to our room to take care of some sort of altercation. When the bathroom fan was on it brought in the smell of cigarettes. We were required to pay to use the laundry facilities on top of paying for the room. The room was muggy despite the use of the air conditioning unite on high. Many patrons were smoking outside of their rooms. Frequent yelling, cursing and verbal fights outside the room.
The lady at the front desk was nice and helpful.

United States of AmericaRhonda, the day time registration manager, is abrasive. She demanded that I put on a mask to enter the registration area yet she allowed other employees to enter the same area without wearing their masks properly, their mask was wrapped around their neck and did not cover their mouth or nose. On a 2nd encounter with Rhonda she accused me of being rude to the cleaning service. As before Rhonda was abrasive from the start of the encounter. I was not rude to any of the staff during my stay at the hotel. The encounter with the cleaning employees was only asking why they had skipped my room on the day it was scheduled to be cleaned. No message was left either by phone or a note posted to the door to explain why the room was not going to be cleaned. My conversation with the cleaning crew only consisted of arranging to have clean linen dropped off so I could change the bedding. I was not rude at any time with the staff. Also the ac unit needs to be replaced as it is old and leaks. The first 3 or 4 days the carpet was wet, not damp, wet! This was reported when I noticed the ac unit was leaking. No indication was left as to wether any one had entered the room to look or attempt to repair the ac. The ac unit was still dripping water 3 weeks after it was reported leaking.
