Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe shower in the guesthouse soaks the entire bathroom making it uncomfortable to use the bathroom even hours after the last time the shower was used. The included breakfast is hardly worth mentioning.
The grounds are lovely and historic.

AustraliaThe facilities mentioned on Booking.com are not matched by the hotel. For example, there is no EV charging, all of the windows are not double glazed, etc. Suggest that the facility and booking.com coordinate to correct the things that are wrong.
the historical setting is nice, and our room was decorated nicely. So the surface view of the place is good (but on closer inspection shows wear and tear as you would expect from an old property

United States of AmericaNot as clean as it could have been. Some items in disrepair... We stayed in the French Room and one chair had the wooden top broken off, hook in the bathroom was broken off & just hanging; toilet, sink, and floor all needed to be cleaned better. Breakfast was difficult with only one employee trying to wait on everyone! And the free yogurt parfait was tiny, fruit cup was also tiny and none of the fruit was ripe... Just expected a bit more. But we still are glad to have had the opportunity to stay there!
Beautiful place! Very elegant :)

United States of AmericaWindow was broken and stuck open in the room we stayed in. Blinds were broken. The bathroom was very strange and the toilet was practically in the shower. There were no towel racks, and the towels were very cheap and thin. The room was dusty. The TV was in a room with a Murphy bed, and two small chairs, no TV in the bedroom so there was no way to enjoy it unless we took the Murphy bed out. Everything looked a little run down and could use some updating. Overall, wouldn't stay again.
Parking was easy. Good location.

United States of AmericaThe bed could definitely use a box spring. It would be much more comfortable. Also Maybe something to help keep the cold air from coming thru the windows.
We enjoyed the calmness of the stay, my husband and I went for just a calm quiet stay. It was that.

United States of AmericaIt was built in 1895, so of course it has things. It was really warm when we stayed so it was about 74 in the room all night. They had a fan, but we had trouble with the outlets working.
It was beautiful, so much to look at and it outweighed any issues we may have had. We didn’t have a chance to try the food or the wine on this trip but look forward to it in the future. It’s also near everything.

United States of AmericaThere was a blonde woman who was quite rude and had her daughter there. I was disappointed in the way she handled our food being delivered to the hotel, we were unaware that it needed to be directly to our room. Additionally, the hotel could really use a good dusting and wipe down. I understand that it's an old building, but a simple dust cloth and pledge could go a long way.
The staff was helpful and pleasant. Check in was great with the gentleman that helped us. The bartender was a hoot as well.

United States of AmericaI didn't like how cold the bathroom was and the door knob to the room partition fell off several times. The neighbors were up an ungodly long time blasting music until well after midnight and there was nothing I could do to make it stop so the kids couldn't sleep or really ghost hunt.
I loved the friendly positive staff and the delicious food! I really loved the ambience and the history. The kids loved the haunted vibe and the hot tub.

United States of AmericaJamie, Mark and just every staff member were kind, fun and all around wonderful. This is my second time visiting, first over night. Highly recommend this beautiful peaceful place. In between Christmas and New Year's my daughter took me there for wine tasting, message, steam room, dinner and tour. I loved it. Our tour guide was the same front desk lady that I had when we stayed last night. She was so good on the tour my daughter and I were so happy she decided to do the all events for my Christmas gift! I was thrilled to take my best friend to stay for her Birthday. We definitely will be back!

United States of AmericaHousekeeping could have been better. It seemed to us that they were short staffed, and we thought that showed in both cleanliness and amenities, such as having no towels or plumbing not operating in the shower. The attention to some details was frustrating at times.
We love historic buildings and this one is really beautiful and interesting. Jamie (staff) was one of the most accommodating staff people we have encountered anywhere. She did everything she could to make things right whenever there was any kind of issue, and we couldn't really ask for more from her. There was another staff, male, who was really fantastic at a time that no one else was around. He could not have been more helpful, and I'm sorry I don't remember his name. We loved the uniqueness of the property and each room. The rooftop hot tub was one of our favorite spots while we were there. It was comfortable and convenient to have both a restaurant and a small bar on site. The historic tour of the property was really interesting and fun. We also really liked the location.

United States of AmericaI ordered food twice. Each time it was unbelievably burnt…I mean BLACK! The bartender said the crab cakes were very good…looked like a hockey puck (not exaggerating)…took nearly a half hour to get and there were only 2 other people eating and they were already served before I ordered; very disappointing. I had already placed an order for breakfast the next morning; same thing…French toast had 5 pieces…looked nice when it came…flipped over (all heel pieces) and they were BLACK….what I could taste was good, but the scrambled eggs had heavy spices and were not edible. A couple near by appeared to have the same experience as he gave a fork full of scrambles eggs to his wife and she made a face saying…what is that? It was raining that morning, and there was a black container catching the rain coming in from the ceiling…not sure why guests were not put in the near by dining room-it seemed to diminish the experience. You advertisements state….”Attention to detail”..that was not the case. Appears to need better on site management.
Beautiful setting; historic atmosphere and the view from the rooftop was stunning!

United States of AmericaI’ve been there multiple times I live in this area and location and atmosphere of the Castle is the biggest draw to stay here when you want to have a night of fun with the understanding that it is not like a hotel. Although it is fun to hear the ghost stories and stay in the rhymed rooms it is often underwhelming and just not reaching its potential. Allot of times when booking online the rooms that appear as available upon arrival aren’t ready or not in use ( I’ve tried to stay in the “ cottage” both times and was told they aren’t available when I just saw them on this app) and it gets frustrating once you’ve been there before and they start giving you the same responses to the same issues. Another special amenity they claim to offer is the rooftop hot tub which I did experience one of the stays and was disappointed but the first time was told it was not working but this last experience was weird I was on the way to the Castle and was about to call ahead to ask if the rooftop got tub was working before I really came to stay because on the app it says “ no payment needed pay on arrival” and they actually call me as I’m getting close and say I have to pay before I come there or I can not reserve the room and dispute my request to deal with This when I get there I’m very close and driving I can’t get to my card they addimitly persisted that there is no exceptions I would not be allowed a room if I didn’t do it right now. I was instantly upset and suspicious! This is not how any of my other booking.

United States of AmericaOur room was beautiful. I should had done more research concerning the size of the bed. We were surprised with having a double size that must have been there for a while. I guess we are just king sized people. While having a drink in the bar, we were served by a guy who was not happy about bartending as he was a very busy event planer. $16.00 for a bourbon and coke seemed a bit on the expensive side, but, I had never had a drink in a castle before. Jamie, on the other hand, was very helpful, welcoming, and fun.
We took advantage of the complimentary breakfast, which was tasty. We were a bit surprised by the paper on the table asking for tips.

GermanyThe description of the complimentary breakfast was inaccurate and over-valued. After breakfast was brought to the table, everything else was self-service, so I was surprised to be asked for a tip that was almost 50% of the cost of the meal. Also, the water temperature in the shower was barely luke-warm. I was surprised that not all of the light fixtures had functioning light bulbs.
It was a very unique place to stay and it was like traveling back in time. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The beds were very comfortable. I liked the accommodations but the place needs a little work.

United States of AmericaThe housekeeping staff did not make the bed well. When we arrived, the sheets were all disheveled (as if they didn't fit the bed) and not tucked in tightly and the mattress cover was halfway off the bed. I had to remake the bed before getting into it. My sister's bed sheets, mattress cover, and comforter were better but still not made well. She also had to adjust them. We also had to ask for an extra set of towels (only 1 towel set was given for two people) and bathroom cups to rinse after brushing teeth. We had to ask twice before only the cups and 1 towel was delivered. I believe that the housekeeping staff (which may be college students) need to be checked on after they prepare a room for guests so that the room is perfectly set up. Other than that, the room was very clean and comfortable and the castle was a very beautiful and unique place to stay.
