The HVAC system was extremely loud with the blower coming on every 15 minutes with a screech. Probably only a problem for our room location (unit is under window of Rhone) but not sure if you can improve with some maintenance.

We liked the location and the historical artifacts. The balcony was a cool feature, but we did not know about to until last day. The room was nice and everything was working fine.

The drain in the sink sometimes worked and sometimes acted plugged, draining very slowly. The window in the bathroom had to be propped to stay open. The front desk wasn’t staffed on Sunday morning.

Location in downtown Placerville, stained glass in lobby, quaint ancient elevator, convenient parking, comfortable bed, great price

Parking is a little ways away. Also, there was a lot of honking and hot-rodding during the night. This may have been a one-time thing, but if you're a light sleeper, keep in mind that you're right on the main drag.

I love old hotels, and this one was beautiful. The location was great, right on Main St with lots of things within walking distance. Person at the front desk was very nice. The old elevator was fun. :)

The towels were crusty and we could not use them they felt very hard. The bedding was ripped and the bed itself wasn’t very comfortable.

It was definitely spooky, lived up to being haunted. The location felt safe for where it was at and us coming back late. Staff was nice and helpful.

On Friday night the partying at the local bars was extremely loud and made it really hard to sleep until they closed at 2 AM and then the garbage trucks came about 3 AM and woke us back up.

Location is very convenient. It was within walking distance of most of the restaurants and shops we wanted to see. The historic lobby is really pretty.

Elevator does not stop flush with the floor, causing tripping hazard. Bathroom sink not large enough to put anything on it - could use a cabinet with larger counter in the bathroom. A musty smell throughout due to age of hotel.

Clean, excellent price, very close to our event

I had a reservation for a king suite. We did not get that. I talked with the clerk they said we would be reimbursed. But nothing was done. Paid way too much for the room we had.

The room layout was strange and didn't have nightstands as a consequence. Would be easily fixed by turning the bed 90 degrees,

No AC available in winter months. It is possible to install individually for each room and not change the esthetics. Heat is not available in the warmer months. It's general hotel temp or open windows.

The property was fantastic! Antiques everywhere, including the elevator. The rooms are very lovely considering the age of the structure.
