Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIt is important to note that the hotel is basic. Nothing fancy- including no elevator to the rooms on the second floor. It isn't a ton of steps but there are certainly steps. I wasn't disturbed by the noise but I could see that weekends might get a little loud outside. Running the fan or ear plugs might not be a bad idea.
I found the hotel to be clean, the staff were very nice, and the location and price can't be beat. Yes, parking is a bit of a hassel but the hotel is in the middle of all the action. I thought the bed was comfortable, the heating and air conditioning worked well and the shower pressure and temperature were good.

United States of AmericaRooms are small but clean and comfortable. It’s a basic, no frills hotel with lots of potential. Looks as if most rooms have had fresh paint and upgrade to bedding and curtains recently.
In town for a wedding - the location was great! Cute town with lots of breweries and shops.

United States of AmericaRooms are VERY small. No chair. No desk. I didn't try the wi-fi or TV, so can't comment. Big TV. View of my room was a square/parking lot. Had a Christmas tree and Santa House on it during my stay, so that was nice to look at the tree. Facility is old, and shows it. Shower water fluctuated from hot to cold without intervention. This was a last minute stay, and I went for a less expensive one in the area.
Staff is friendly. Coffee/tea available in lobby 24/7. Muffins in the morning. Larger dorm fridge and microwave in room. Location is great - close to Schulkyll River trail (although not a particularly scenic part), plenty of bars, restaurants and botiques. I felt safe walking. Also a few small parks. Ate at Dim Sum Court about a block away. It was excellent.

United States of AmericaOn a weekend, parking is a nightmare. I got back to the hotel late at night, tired, and ready for bed, but spent 35 minutes looking for a parking place.
Location was great. In the heart of town, you're within walking distance to many excellent dining options and amenities. The place was quiet and comfortable.

United States of Americathe location is great but parking can be a minor challenge. they have a private lot for guests but that fills up and sometimes non guests take spots there. on street parking is a bit restricted. I’d say one trip in five becomes a challenge

United States of AmericaParking is tough. There is a tiny 6-car lot next to the building, but if that's full you need to park down the street a bit in a secondary lot. Front desk will give you a pass to leave on your dashboard so you don't get towed for parking overnight so it's fine. Some other reviewers complained that that lot was "very far" but it was literally a 3 minute walk back to the hotel. No big deal at all. As for the room, it was clean so I'm not complaining, but the bed was quite hard and the fluorescent lighting did nothing to cheer up the space.
The location of The Mainstay Inn really cannot be beat. It is centrally located on Bridge Street, with a plethora of bars, restaurants, and breweries all within walking distance. It was exceptionally convenient! The room itself was quite compact, but we expected that given the age of the building, and it was functional and clean. The hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful as well. We would definitely stay there again.
