Good price, basic lodging in a historic building.

Front desk person was helpful in changing our booking as I had accidentally booked the wrong day. Loved the historical building. The room felt a little sparse. Could be made more interesting.

Our room was COLD when we got there - I'd suggest warming up the rooms before guests arrive. We did get there late but it could be done.

We love this hotel and have stayed here a few times. It's charming and cozy and the staff is great.

Sad that the bar and restaurant are still closed down. Hope they reopen it. Also... the bed in 207 (as I stayed in a different room before) was really hard. Not a restful sleep on that bed. Other than that. It is a charming place with deep history.

Love the overall nostalgia of the place.

old smell in room, shower door did not close, carpet was not vacuumed, refrigerator was very loud, a lot of stairs but doable, I wish the restaurant and bar were open, we would have never left the building. I do wish they had a gift shop, postcards , pictures, magnets, that would be cool. I wish the elevator ran more also.

quiet room, comfy bed ,pillows and cozy comforter. very friendly staff helped with eating necessities. beautiful grounds garden view of water. I loved the historic old charm of the castle.

The shower curtain was installed such that it slipped to the center of the rod, which left large gaps at each end. A minor inconvenience but it was nearly impossible to prevent a lot of water from falling onto the floor.

Our room had a lovely view of the water. It’s a lovely old building with a nice garden area for spending some time outside. Quick walk to an excellent coffee stand.

It's an OK place to stay.

    • Cottage with Garden View
    • Stayed 2 nights

The description of the half of a 'bungalow' that we occupied said that we had a view of the garden. I guess I don't consider a view of some tree trucks/bike rack/pine needles on the dirt a 'garden'. I thought that it was a little expensive for what we had. The three windows were so high on the wall that you had to stand on the bed to look out. They let in so much light over night that it was hard to sleep. They need some blackout curtains. The door had glass in it to look out, but all you could see was the 'garden'. No one came to straighten the room/make the bed/give fresh towels.

The bed was very comfortable and they brought more pillows since the ones they had provided were very small. The tub was a claw foot tub and I enjoyed the machine that they had attached to the tub that provided bubbles and heat. It would have been nice to have bubble bath provided.

Due to insurance costs a lot of the rooms were closed. I understand, it's a business. Maybe some day all the rooms could be open. Besides that I've got nothing bad about staying there.

Only disappointment was restaurants where advertised but closed due to insurance issues when we stayed there as well as certain areas of castle were off limits.

Port Townsend is an authentic lovely city. Manresa had a coast view, comfy beds, helpful staff, and quite the history! Featured on Ghost Adventures.
