    The fragrance in the lobby.

The location was perfect, we could walk to everything we wanted to see. The outside patio was pleasant to sit in as was the lobby. The staff throughout the hotel was friendly and welcoming. Our room was comfortable, loved the canopy bed. Sometimes the fragrance in the lobby was overpowering would have preferred less.

The location was terrific. Close to many attractions yet very quiet.

The noise made by the air conditionners in the rooms and in the court yard is not negligeable. A point for improvements...

I recommend this place because of its excellent location, less than of 1 Km of most of the places to visit or go in Charleston. I love the "wine and cheese" concept around 5pm, although a bit early and short (1h) for guests that go dining at european hours, like 8pm.... Very helpful and kind personnel : southern kindness.

Poorly utilized space in rooms. Bathroom huge, with nothing in it, no shelves, storage and few hooks for clothes. Dressing area needs more mirrors & places to put things. Huge wingback chairs take up space you have to navigate around. Who wants to sit by the bathroom? One whole wall by the front would be better for a sitting area with smaller chairs. Armoire is fine, no robes. AC unit had a mind of its own. No parking on premises with a $40 per night fee for valet, $25 per night to walk and get your own car. Stop using that strong lilac room spray in the lobby. Unappealing especially with food.

The garden is beautiful, lots of places to sit, nice evening wine and cheese event. Close to everything downtown. Staff very friendly. Housekeeping did a beautiful job each day on our room. Went above and beyond.

When exiting elevators no signs to show which rooms are left or right. Very high bed, so has stairs to get up to it, cool, but need to use it everytime you get in and out of bed. Woodern corridor to rooms at an angle and creek. Wish more room in wardrobe.

Bathed in southern charm. Jewel's welcome was friendly and perfectly helpful. Large spacious room. Lovely spacious bathroom. Had cookie and hot chocolate in reception before bedtime, great to meet fellow guests. Location is center of downtown. Parking is close, just 3 blocks away.

The bed was slightly uncomfortable and the heating system was loud.

Loved the courtyard with the fountain and the hot tub. The location was perfect to walk to all the places we wanted to see. Although the furniture could use updating we loved the charm of the 4 poster bed and antique furniture in the bedroom but the fact that the bathroom was modern and new. Breakfast was offered every morning (the berries and Greek yogurt were delicious),Wine and appetizers were offered every evening and cookies and milk every night! Coffee and tea was always available in the lobby and cold water was available in the courtyard.

Very expensive for what you got. Room is situated like a motel with its door opening to an external walkway. Room was very basic with zero extras that you would expect when paying such a high price. No coffee/tea. No water. Heating very basic, no extra blankets so very cool in room.

Great location Pleasant buffet style breakfast in reception area

Closer car parking More inside seating and convenient bathrooms to Lobby Bed was attractive, ample soap, towels that were soft and plenty of them, nice warm shower! Darren, Marlene, and Rodney are five star employees!!

We enjoyed the breakfasts. It was nice that they were provided. The last day the server apparently forgot to put the one hot item out. We were leaving that morning so that was disappointing. The woman serving on that Thursday was the only unpleasant staff member. She was very unapproachable. Not friendly. She was very different from Darren, Marlene, and Rodney who were so kind, pleasant, and helpful. Plus there was another black gentleman who worked hard and was pleasant. We loved the wine time and Rodney was excellent in every way! Cookies were good, too! The bldg was well cared for.

Breakfast was limited, especially for someone with lactose intolerance. Lobby had a strong smell. Staff were not overly friendly. While we were told we would be called when our room was ready, we didn't receive one. Our luggage was initially taken to the wrong room. No enforcement of quiet hours; loud talking outside well after 9PM. No vent in bathroom so humidity was high and hard to air out.

Location was fantastic! Could walk everywhere. Parking was reasonable and only a few blocks away. Very nice courtyard area to have a drink.

Bed was a little squeaky, but I like the historical charm of it. I had to move the extra pillows because I do like to unpack my bag while at a local.

The room was what I wanted being in a historical city. We sat in the courtyard and had wine and listened to the music. I wish I would have known about the hot tub. The location is excellent. We did not have a car and walked almost everywhere we needed to go.
