Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNo real criticism toward the lodge. Spots of the area it’s in are a bit sketchy feeling, but that’s not on the lodge, it’s just the neighborhood.
Clean, simple, no fuss room. Pretty quiet property. I had a mountain view from the bench in front of my room. Very nice owners, and you’re right between Manitou Springs and Old Colorado City, and close to Colorado Springs, so the location is quite nice. It’s not brand new, so it isn’t immaculate, but it’s well tended to, and it gives it a touch of careworn charm. Super reasonably priced. It really gives you the experience of an old school motel, rather than the sterile, bland experience of a new chain hotel.

United States of AmericaThe space was old-school but spacious and clean. Ted, the proprietor, was very kind and helpful. The location is good, sitting just off Hwy 24, between Manitou Springs and Colorado Springs. No pool or restaurant, but wifi worked great for the 3 of us using it, and the water heat and pressure was just fine. If you're not fussy about updated styles, this is a great place to stay.

My main focus was a clean room in a safe area. Mel Haven Motel exceeded my expectations on all accounts. The rooms were impeccably clean, very quiet and in a safe area. The bathroom was updated, the larger size dorm fridge was a huge plus and the fact that we had two rooms was amazing (one bedroom with queen bed and the main area with queen bed, small table with chairs, fridge and microwave). There were also bbq grills outside to use if we wanted. The closeness to all my planned activities in Manitou Springs were a bonus. The owner was very attentive and often asked if there was anything we needed done.

United States of AmericaThe areas behind the units were used for storage. Kids wanted to go out and play frisbee, but there are no nice grassy areas. However, this is the only small reason why this place isn't perfect for a family!
Very clean, comfortable, no frills facility. Would recommend, especially for those traveling with kids!

United States of AmericaNothing!
They went over the top with the amenities! They had--- toaster, microwave, coffee pot, silverware, real plates, cups, saucers! Stove top! Sink with running water in kitchen! Large bathroom with tub and shower included makeup remover pads, shampoo, soaps, blowdryer, plenty of towels, washcloths, etc.

United States of AmericaThe beds were a little less firm than we would prefer, but that's a small complaint in comparison to the great value of this property.
The hotel was in a great location, it was very clean and well kept given the age of the property. The staff was very nice and helpful, and it was great to wake up each day and get to look out and see Garden of the Gods in the distance.

United States of AmericaWhen you drive up, the outside is no reflection on what is inside the room. It looks a little run down on the outside. There were no paper towels or ice, so bring your own.
The room was very clean and well appointed. Beds were comfortable with high quality linens. The kitchenette was fully stocked with everything you need to cook a light meal. The bathroom was large and had a jetted tub. The location cannot be beat for access to all of the major Colorado Springs attractions. Felt very safe and was a relatively quiet location.

They don't serve breakfast however there is a coffee maker, refrigerator, and coffee supplies. The location is at the entry to Manitou Springs. From the balcony we could see the mountains and Garden Of The Gods. This older hotel has updated rooms, comfortable beds and quality linens! Staff is helpful and friendly.

United States of AmericaI really can't think of anything. This motel met our expectations, was super clean, and in a great location. We'd stay here again.
Great location. It's not a new motel, but none of the motels on the street were. It's an older part of town maybe but the owner was super friendly and attentive, the room was spotlessly clean, great parking, good location, comfy bed, loved the shower, bench next to bed, couch, desk, nice size closet with plenty of hangers, not full sized but a good sized fridge, outdoor couch and chair to sit on outside the room, plus 2 cats that we would see on occasion when leaving.

United States of AmericaMe and my wife absolutely loved staying here. It’s a family owned place and we got to meet the owners and their son. They have 4 cats and they let them roam around pretty much every day and we got to pet them! The family is super nice and they told us a bit about Colorado. Highly recommend staying here.

United States of AmericaThe beds were far too soft for us, probably from overuse. Extra portable bed (about $10 a night) also cheap and uncomfortable. Everything is old: the furniture, decor, carpet, lighting, everything. You won't want to spend time inside this room if you care about the vibe of a place. Carpet felt like your typical budget motel carpet, vacuumed properly but clearly not steam-cleaned often. Towels were small. Wifi was slow if you're downloading/uploading large files or trying to stream HD.
Management was very welcoming and helped us move our bags. Bathroom and beds were clean. There's a small fridge, coffee maker with tea/coffee supplies, good A/C system, small TV with remote. Outside the room there's a convertible table/bench with room for two or three people to sit or eat.
