Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaWe got upgraded to a room in one of the accompanying inns, our room was called Mrs. Astor. The room was small, but comfortable with a king sized bed. We did not order breakfast. Overall, no complaints. The parking was easy and available, just a little scary pulling out of the lot since it's such a narrow driveway.

United States of AmericaIn our case, so you are aware…when you book, it’s under the guise of staying at the ‘Melville House’ however, we received a call from Rick the morning of, to offer an ‘upgrade’ which would include staying in a different, yet still nearby, building. Was not a problem and not travelling with children, so no big deal. Plus, appreciated the ‘upgrade’ (although had nothing to compare it to) On arrival, we were directed to check in at one location, (not the Melville) And subsequently escorted across the street to another building. Room was quaint and warm. Definitely suited our purpose for the one night stay. Check in time was flexible and was nice to not have to rush out early next morning. Check out time was extended. Perhaps to Ameliate the walk to and from breakfast. All in all, our stay was pleasant and comfortable. Crystal made us a cooked-to-order breakfast which was delicious. Private off-street Parking was available. GREAT location to walk the neighbourhood. If you are into historical architecture you will love it. Many wonderful restaurants within walking distance. Our favourite, White Horse Tavern merely a stones throw away. Always an adventure!
Breakfast was perfect. Although not provided at the location we stayed. Was a 12 min walk away at another property. Not a big deal and was a pleasant walk. Just wasn’t expecting that to be the case.

CanadaThe property management company owns several historical homes on this lovely and quaint street. We had reserved a small room in the Melville house but when we arrived they offered to upgrade us to a larger room if we checked in alittle later, which we did. The room they offered was in another of their homes on the street and it was absolutely beautiful. Large king size bed and a bathroom with two vanity sinks. They were thoughtful to offer a black colored "Make-Up" towel for those who need one. My husband and I had to leave at 6am the next morning and the guest keeper, a gentlemen whom I did not get his name, greeted us with hot and fresh coffee at 6am. How wonderful is that. We filled our thermos and slipped out quietly to not wake up the other guests. The parking was located behind the building and our car was easily accessible. We are definitely coming back next year. Thank-you the wonderful team at Melville House and see you next year!

United States of AmericaJacuzzi tub did not work, that was disappointing, however we made it work as a regular bathtub! sometimes you have to improvise!
Rick was able to accomodate my husband and I with a room at a property closer to Thames street due to my spouse's inability to walk long distances. He was funny, entertaining and so knowledgeable about everything! we would definitely stay there again!

We were actually upgraded to the Cleveland House next door. These historic homes are lovely and just a 7minute walk to the waterfront and main shopping/tourist attractions. Very confortable rooms, furnished tastefully. Free continental b-fast or a lovely full b-fast for $16. Extremely friendly and helpful staff.

United States of AmericaThird floor walkup was a bit "far" from street. Parking was a bit tight but they helped with that. You definitely need to consider the size of your vehicle at this location. The streets are old and parking is very tight. Otherwise there was nothing else I didn't like.
Breakfast at the house. Location was central and historic and great. Loved access to self-serve breakfast foods all day. Access to water and small group kitchen was great as well!

United States of AmericaThere isn’t much not to like, but if I have to say something one could grump about it would be the parking gets complicated. We always got a spot but you have to be a fearless driver to manage the parking lots which are tight with narrow entrances.
This is a lovely establishment, comfortable, good size room, frette linens and towels. great shower, and ac. complimentary continental breakfast and delicious (paid) breakfast available upon request. The property is centrally located to restaurants, bars and shops all within walking distance. innkeeper Rick is very accommodating and helpful. We will go back.
