To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

TaiwanAn old hotel that charges too much. The elevator is old and bumps before stopping at each floor. There is strong smell of chloride in the lobby. One of the ice machines at our floor is out of order but no sign to show that.
Within walking distance to the west campus of DUKE university. Welcome drink and dessert.

United States of AmericaThere was a pet fee. No where on Booking.com does it tell you it is $100. I had already made a non refundable booking. And driven over 3 hours . There was a $15 “destination” fee.. I did not get all the amenities that were listed. And you have to dig into policies to see that. They advertise their rooms are $77 dollars!!! I spent over $200. I got several messages and emails to pre register.. then still stood in line.. only one clerk. Hotel map is not clear ; directions poor as to get to room. Guest instructions say continental breakfast is $9.99 per person; destination fee says it’s free. But we didn’t know where the breakfast was. Booking .com should make these places declare what their pet fees are. And their destination fees should be in the room price , if everyone gets it added on

United States of AmericaThe bar. I didn't expect there to be a bar, but since there was i stopped by and the end of the day on Saturday. It was very poorly stocked and it seemed like nobody could get the drink they ordered--you had to work with the bartender to make do with what little he had.
I liked the design of the room, especially the combination of the closet area and bathroom behind a sliding door.

United States of AmericaCheck-in could have been handled better, I stood waiting for hotel employees to finish their chat before I was acknowledged. It lasted for several minutes. Our non smoking room smelled as if the previous guest was a heavy smoker IN the room. My partner who is a smoker (but DID NOT in the room) commented on how much the room smelled of smoke. The bed also left something to be desired as far as comfort.
Location was excellent, we Ubered from the hotel to DPAC for our event. The rates were good

United States of AmericaStaff was rude. I was charged in full from Booking and then they said they would charge me the resort fee and it was my problem to get a refund from Booking. Also, they woke me early morning to say I had to vacate the room since I had checked out when I haven't and was insisting, I had and almost yelling at me. The cleaning person was knocking on the door insistently.
Location was good for my plans, hotel is nice.
