To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaDespite the no smoking signs all over the building, the room had a sort lightly of baked-in smell of cigarettes. It wasn’t saturated in it, but you could definitely smell it.
We stayed for one night. The person at the counter was very friendly- I didn’t use but did see that there was a laundry room on site, which is hugely convenient- the room looked clean- Ample parking.

United States of AmericaThe fact my TV kept going in and out couldn't watch TV. And paid a lot more than what you do during the week which I understand it was the weekend but, would have been nice if the TV would work and the lights behind the headboard were broken. The bed was the worst one I've ever slept on and the Wi-Fi didn't work at all at the location of the room. I've stayed here plenty times before never had a problem but, have to say this is the worst time I've had there. And don't like paying more for the construction I can hear on a Saturday morning.

United States of AmericaShower only. I switched to a handicapped room for 3 nights after my friend left with his dog & to get a tub but the TV speaker was blown & was a nightmare to listen to so I didn't watch it, that was annoying.
Room was reasonable for Motel 6. Property was well maintained for my expectations of the brand. There were dogs allowed, which is why we rented there, my friend brought his dog.

IndiaPoor wifi, felt insecure as it was on rear side towards parking and anyone can enter there and even in a day light a person tried to follow me and was asking for my key. Intercom was not working. No complementary drinking water.
