Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The blanket for your pod could be thicker. If they could provide a lock or something for the locker as well, that would be nice.
Location is perfect! And the staff were friendly. :) For my short stay where I just needed a place to sleep for the most part, it was exactly what I needed.

toilets could be cleaned 2x a day considering the high usage.
The place was very quiet and modern and the people were nice. It was clean enough, considering what you can expect from a hostel.

the bunk beds are constructed with steel sheets which looks really cool and modern but get really noisy when you touch it or only even scratch it by accident.
the location was amazing! a lot of trains within 5-7 min walking distance! huge plus is the bathroom inside the room!

All the furniture is black and there is no good lighting, makes you feel like it's nighttime all the time, kind of depressing. The rooms were very cold at times and the blanket that was provided is very thin and short as well. A second blanket was an additional charge, which I find inappropriate. The laundry service costs 10 USD which is a lot compared to other hostels and I didn't even get a dryer sheet because they were out at the moment. The common areas are made such that people are discouraged from interacting or staying there too long.

My main gripe that the light turns on too easily when people enter the room, it is too bright, and that top bunks are not sufficiently sealed to prevent light from coming in. The AC doesn't work that well so summers can be tough, and windows don't really block outside noise.
Amazing location, and the property is very well kept for what it is (a decently old building near central park).

Would normally prefer a hotel but arriving late evening and leaving fairly early didn't justify the expensive prices. But it was ok. Decent setup. Slept well. Wi-Fi worked. Location in the heart of Manhattan

Terrible lighting in bathroom, no paper towels to dry your hands. Shower and toilet are in the same room, bathroom could use a remodel.

The number of the chains that are for leaving luggage is not sufficient and some of them are really short
Very close to Central Park. Additionally there is a very nice terrace. They provide free sleeping mask which was a nice touch.

a bit noisy when someone took a shower or used a toilet, hair dryer only available before 9 PM, sometimes no hotwater to drink on 2nd floor

Safety of luggage as the wall chains were thin and looked easy to prise open. It was obvious I would need a padlock of which I then had to purchase from the Nap.
The location and the pod was good. Staff pleasant too especially Cy.

THere was nothing I didn´t like, but if I have to comment some things: staff could have been friendlier (they are okay, not rude or anything, but they don´t want to talk with you) and price was a bit high, but this is NYC after all.
Great place to sleep quietly in the middle of the city - do not expect a social hostel or a place where you´ll make friends, Nap York is more a place to relax, enjoy the city during the day and have a safe place to sleep at night. I stayed in the 2 bed female pod and the room was spacious, nice and comfortable. The bathroom was nice, although it had some mold on the floor (nothing too serious). Storage space was okay. Bed was comfortable and big, although I thought it was a bit different from what they should you in the pictures. The curtain is a nice touch and it gives privacy

No mop in the bathroom, and at least a small garbage by the sinks. There was one in the bathroom but when someone was in I couldn't throw away things, cotton pads and such...
Location is fabulous, and frankly I felt quite safe even in the night.

The quality of the towel was not the best, and a hairdryer is not provided. The code panel for my room did not work perfectly, so it was a bit noisy when people came in or out.
The location was the best. The price is very good for the location and the value. The beds are really comfortable and well designed so it feels that you have a private space even though your are sharing room.
