Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIt's marketed as a bed and breakfast and the only food provided were milk, bread, and limited snacks. It was more a kitchen provided for you to use if we bought food.
The hot tub in the room was amazing! And the staff was welcoming and had great suggestions for food

United States of AmericaWe visited during change of season from winter to spring. If you’ve ever lived in NYC then you’re aware of the power of the RADIATORS. It was a very warm nights rest.
Love the location as we don’t like to be compelled to midtown and have family in Harlem. Love the architecture of the building and the design. So beautiful.

United States of AmericaWhen I woke up in the morning, the room was very hot! That was the only time we felt uncomfortable. Staff did address this when I spoke with them.
The decor was nice as well as the layout of the place. The room was cozy and the bed was very comfortable!

United States of AmericaThe only problem was that we had to wait for the water to get hot enough to be able to relax in the jacuzzi, but we understood there was a full house. After we waited, it was worth it.
The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, the entire space (kitchen, lobby) looked really nice! Great location! Will definitely visit again.

PhilippinesSince this is a house, not a hotel, there was no elevator and we had some big bags. But we were helped to deal with them, and that was really my only (minor) complaint.
Very friendly staff. It was nice to have a common dining and living room to relax in outside of our room. The location was perfect for our purposes - near our son, near shopping areas, with lots of delis, food markets, restaurants and laundry shops nearby. Near subway stations too.

UruguayMinor aspect: I would like to be able to have more control over the heating temperature.
I loved the service. The manager was great and kind, which is a crucial aspect for me. In addition to this, the property was in excellent condition and it had a vintage style that we all loved. I would definitely return in the future.

FranceNothing negative, so just a little comment because I have nothing else to say: for tea drinkers the kitchen lacked tea bags/infuser
Very warm welcome by the houseman (whatsapp messages before and during the stay, great introduction tour to the facilities), great facilities, gorgeous comfortable themed room (ours was KIMONO, with a tatami floor), free bottles of water, well you have everything you need to feel good just like at home

United States of AmericaBlankets were nailed over my windows so I couldn’t get natural light, guests weren’t allowed to use the sauna and the location was terrible in central Harlem, I felt incredible unsafe at night and wasn’t aware of Harlem.

SwitzerlandIt was way too hot in the common areas. Cleanliness could have been better; the bathroom could've been cleaner. We stayed 2 nights, and no one cleaned the room during the stay :( But overall, I would recommend it.
Value for money is very good. The staff (or maybe he was the host) was very friendly and welcoming. The room is a standard size for Manhattan, but the bed was very comfortable. The location is great; a good spot in Harlem: near to the subway stations, police station, and a lot of restaurants and coffee shops.

United States of AmericaSo this was a one off event but it was super weird and way uncomfortable. A friend of mine is a bartender up in Harlem and when he got off work he and I were going to meet up. This was around 4am. Waiting for my Uber this old man came out of the office and scared me to death. He was shouting at me telling me to get out of the property like he was kicking me out?? I told him I was a guest there and showed my booking confirmation and he was like yeah I know but get out why are you up so late. I kind of just ignored him and got in my cab and didn't hear anything about it again. But what was that and why??? Did not appreciate that moment but it was the only hiccup in an otherwise wonderful stay
The place was amazing. My room was huge and so comfortable. And it came with a built in dry sauna?? Haha. There isn't a room like it at this price in NYC. And you're around so much food. The neighborhood is 👍

United States of AmericaIt was the weekend of the New York Marathon so we had very limited options for the night. We didn't really need the most expensive room in the Mansion! The Mansion is historically a very interesting building and location but restoration work is minimal with some rather odd choices made in interior fixtures and decorations for the rooms.
We liked the location, the staff were very helpful and accommodating, the suite was quite large with updated bathroom w/good water pressure and lots of hot water. The Mansion was quiet. Also enjoyed was the main floor lounge area and open kitchen for coffee/tea and warming up of leftovers. No breakfast is served but many excellent breakfast spots are close.

United States of AmericaI will say that there were quite a few issues with different amenities that were slightly off-putting, but didn’t affect my stay a ton. If you’re planning on getting groceries and cooking in that kitchen during your stay, be sure to let the host know ahead of time because the oven is packed full of pots and pans. Plan to reheat any leftovers on the stove top because the convection oven is not intuitive and there is not a microwave. Some light switches do not work, or if they do— you’re turning the lights on and off in some other room lol. The ones you need work just fine. If you brush your teeth at the bathroom sink the water drains incredibly slowly. Something with the sink’s design really.
Great location, very cool home, I love the history and eclectic detail of such an old place. I’ve stayed in the city on several other occasions and this place definitely ranks high on my list. I read a ton of the reviews before I booked my stay— and I’ll say for a 100+ year old home, the updates are lovely. It seems a little like the people with complaints are expecting the plaza hotel, even though a stay there would cost easily 5 times as much. I’d much rather stay somewhere charming and a little quieter like this place in Harlem and it feels more local than a cookie cutter hotel. It’s incredibly close to several bars, the subway, a local market, a Whole Foods, the police station, all within close walking distance. I felt safe walking the neighborhood as a female alone during the day, and at night before midnight. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet at any hour. The spa tub was incredible to come back to after a day full of walking and the bathroom floors are heated! My room was the Garden Suite on the basement level so it had access to an outdoor patio as well. Aubrey the caretaker was kind and friendly, he carried my heavy bag downstairs when I arrived and always had tips and advice for exploring the area. I had several great conversations with him in the kitchen I over the course of my weeklong stay. Make sure you listen to Aubrey’s instructions for using the spa tub and you’ll have no issues. I’d stay here again for sure.
