Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Carpeting needed a little updating and coffee makers in the room would be a nice convenience.
Nice quiet area. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Clean rooms with the usual amenities. The diner has good food and is reasonable. Excellent Turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and breakfast was delicious.

No coffee pot in room. Shower wasn't able to keep water in, floor got really wet outside of shower
Restaurant was good- food was great with great pricing. Location was easy to find.

A Little far from the locations we wanted to visit. But not a deal breaker.
The cleanliness and convenience of the diner. And the price was good! We will definitely be back.

Maybe a little update with the bedspreads.

Door was a little tough to shut easily.
The onsite diner was exceptional. Loved the walk-in shower although the shower curtain was too short to prevent some water on the bathroom floor. Beds were comfortable. Wifi was good. As I am an older adult a softer more comfortable chair would have been my one request. I needed to extend my stay by one day and there was no problem.

We liked everything about the room.The rooms were recently renovated. Easy. Low access walk-in showers are great. Plenty of hot water pressure as well.😎😎
We have stayed many times at Oak Mar Motel. Personnel are always friendly and accommodating. Our hotel room was very clean and the beds are comfortable. Easy access to Oakland, MD and Deep Creek Lake.

No coffee maker.
The room was very clean and had no unpleasant smell as some places do. We were very surprised to come back from a day of fun and adventure to find the room had been straightened and the bed made, fresh towels were supplied. We haven't experiences service like that forever! Great place to stay!

Oak-Mar does not provide breakfast at all, not even an in-room coffee maker. The motel combines with a dinner which opens at 8 am. Most travelers are on the road before 8 and certainly do not want to go into a dinner to have breakfast, unable to hit the road before 9 am. But this appears to be their plan, to push people who stay in the motel rooms into the dinner for morning coffee and more.
The room was clean and quiet, the newly installed ADA shower very good, although while we figured out the hot-cold arrangement, we could not figure out how to increase-decrease the water pressure. On the other side, tho, Oak-Mar does not provide breakfast at all, not even an in-room coffee maker, with the room rental. The motel is combined with a dinner which opens at 8 am. The air conditioner unit was so loud I had to turn it off in order to sleep. I was offered a change in rooms, but there was only one room vacant so I decided to stay where I was in order to leave the vacant room for someone else.
Staff was friendly and efficient. Room was very clean.
