Obvious 1950s remodel. Outside needs repair and rehab, and a coat of paint. Downstairs street-side windows looked like they haven't been cleaned in many years.

Interesting historical building. I didn't get to use the spring baths, but will return to try. Breakfast was good, staff was very helpful.

My massage was cancelled at last minute. No biggie. Also although hotel sparsely populated I was put in room #2 directly above café down stairs. This ment that room was not very quiet, and I worried about making too much noise which might bother diners. Consider, when possible not using this room for this reason.

The beds weren't very comfortable but they worked for what I needed and for the value of the hotel.

Loved the location, staff was very friendly. It was was very easy to have a pet as all the doors have their own exit so it was easy to take bathroom breaks with my puppy.

The building was in such disrepair it was insulting. I honestly wonder if it has been painted in literally 30 years, and the wallpaper in my room (#204) is peeling. I can't believe you wouldn't have been aware of that.

The price was good, the staff was great, but the restaurant was the best thing of all. The staff was wonderful and the food was MOUTH-WATERING.

If there was something not to like, i didnt find it

The location was perfect for someone seeking peace and quiet. The pool is the best pool i have ever swam in. Its fed by a mineral spring, and it was so mineral-ey, that i floated easier in it, and i could feel it detoxifying me. Theres also an attached bar where the locals hang out, so if one wanted to socialize, it aint hard to do. Its like a resort for people who dont like resorts, at least thats how i saw it. My room felt spacious. I received an honest-to-god key when i checked in, and had to lock the door myself, talk about old school charm, away from the card scanners and wi-fi. For someone like me who loves rustic old school stuff, i was in heaven. O did i mention that all the locals think its haunted?!? The history there, and all that happened in it is palpable. Im going back anytime im within a hundred miles of Original Springs, and may even make special trips there just to chill out for a bit.

This is a lovely hotel that just needs a little love. It's currently for sale and needs someone to come in and do some maintenance and updates. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We had a great time...enjoyed walking around town, and visiting the CBI grocery store next door, but best of all was the wrap-around porch. Spent all evening hanging out and watching a storm roll in.

There was nothing I didn't like about this place.

The hotel is super cute. All the staff we dealt with was friendly and welcoming. It's an old hotel, but it's kept up really well and it has a lot of character. I would 100% recommend, and would stay here again if I am in the area.

Only downfall was around 1:00/2:00 in the morning, the other people staying on the 3rd floor were loud in the hallway and stomping around without a care in the world it seemed.

We booked the Original Springs because my son wanted to stay in a haunted hotel. Everything seems to be original in the hotel, the beds were nice and comfy. AC unit kept the room very cold also. There was a ton of dust and stuff under the beds but other than that it was clean so that was not a problem. The staff was very nice when we checked in. My son and I did wander down the halls around 11:30ish but I made sure we were quiet to be respectful of others.

In Room 2 the floor sloped inward. We looked at Suite 205/206, which was renovated more recently and has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and level floors.

For the mildly adventurous, this faded glory of a spa offers excellent services despite its creaky old building. We felt like we were time traveling. The building seemed structurally sound and clean. Not everything worked, but we were comfortably put up in a room with quality bed linens and mattress placed on well-worn period furnishings. The walls are too thin for 21st-century couples or business travelers, but it is a great place to bring a family for an unforgettable stay. The lobby seemed like the kind of place Agatha Christie would strike up conversations around the morning coffee. Most importantly, on arrival we were able to book spa services for the next morning at a fraction of big-city prices. The big pool downstairs is available for swimming after morning aerobics classes, and we’re glad we added on spa services the next morning. The owners are looking to retire, so if you’re passing through the area, this is the year to enjoy what remains of the last mineral springs in Illinois!

Some beds need to be updated. Little run down but clean and seem to be in process of updating some of the rooms. Desk clerk was very accommodating and let us switch to different room with newer mattress.

Restaurant on site for breakfast at a reasonable price. Pool is large and clean. Staff was great.
