Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaEverything worked well for me.
Great and welcoming place. No frills but everything I need. Shared bathrooms is not something I usually do, but here there are multiple bathrooms in good proportion to ge room count. I keep coming back. Nice walk to Portland Japanese Garden.

United States of AmericaThe shower stall upstairs has nothing to hold onto - no grab bar or railing at all. For someone with orthopedic disabilities like myself, this can make showering both more challenging and less safe. Some type of hand-hold would be so greatly appreciated.
I've stayed here twice now, and the property is always clean and secure. Having access to a kitchen is great when I didn't want to go out to eat, and the bedroom was quiet and comfortable. Will definitely stay again.

United KingdomI had no issues however some folks may find the stairs up to the top floor a little hard. Please also bare in mind that as this is a lovely old house, sound does travel, so follow the quiet hours and you'll be fine.
Another great stay at this lovely guesthouse. So well located and easy to get to and from the airport. Downtown is within a 20min walk but there are also good bus connections. The rooms are well maintained whilst the shared bathrooms and kitchen are cleaned on a daily basis.

I loved the location!! Super easy to access different part of the city by walking. The rooms were clean and perfect for just a single traveler. It was a quiet neighborhood and other guests were very respectful.

United KingdomThere was nothing that I didn't like about staying here. I would only point out that the walls are thin and you can hear the other guests from time to time but this is to be expected in a property such as this.
This was a real great find when I decided to visit Portland. The house is in a lovely neighbourhood which was really easy to reach by public transport from downtown on arrival. In fact, it only takes about 25mins to walk to the main part of town. There were a number of great places to eat and drink within a 5min radius. The room was very comfortable and well maintained and clean. The shared bathrooms were also very well taken care of and the shower was great. The kitchen had great facilities and the tea, coffee, milk and juice etc. that was provided was really appreciated. The hosts were available if you needed them and were quick to respond to any questions.

United States of AmericaThe only small thing I could take issue with is awkward shower design.
We stayed in the apt. Everything was exactly as represented, and there's a TJs a minute walk away, ideal for folks doing their own food.

AustraliaIt would have been great if there was washing facilities
The guest house is in such an amazing location, with fantastic food and drink options all around. Having traders Joe's around the corner was also a bonus! The breakfast room was really great as well. Having the microwave helped save on a few meals as a solo traveller on a budget! I also met Tim, the guesthouse manager, and he had some fantastic recommendations and was so lovely and accommodating. I'll definitely stay at the Guesthouse again if I visit portland in the future!
