Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaNo dislikes come to mind.
The place was clean and spacious. Location was pretty quiet and tucked away in the area. Bathroom was clean with a large shower and plenty of towels. Kitchen had everything I needed. Great space for 1-2 people.

United States of AmericaWe didn’t feel completely at ease with the security of the property. There wasn’t an extra lock on the front door and the ventilation windows didn’t close or lock. I know that’s typical in Hawaii but we ended up keeping all of our stuff with us during the day rather than leaving it in the unit. It was really hard to find in the dark. There wasn’t a light by the house number so it took one of us walking up and down the street with a flashlight to find it. The river rock floor in the kitchen area looks really cool but is murder on your feet! We could hear everything that was happening upstairs. I highly recommend using earplugs.
It was very convenient for driving the Road to Hana and the Crater. There aren’t many options in that side of Maui so this was a great jumping off location. The unit has tons of space and storage nooks. We were grateful for the extra fans. The unit does not have AC and it was kind of warm in the evenings.

CanadaCockroaches and centipedes galore. There was a cockroach inside the toaster oven! While it’s difficult to avoid bugs on an island, it was still unpleasant to encounter these bugs inside our place (daily) during our stay. Additionally, the fan was a bit annoying. It was either too cold with the fan on or too hot without it.
Great location! Close to Ho’Okipa beach and not too far from the airport! The unit was very spacious and we liked how there was more sink in the washroom. Aside from the bug issue, the washroom and bed were nice.

United States of AmericaThe whole area is a little dark if you arrive after sunset. The parking is filled with pebbles and little rocks so can be hard on a small car or sedan.
We enjoyed our little condo during our short stay. Great location. Everything was great and met our expectations for the cost we paid. We love the roosters giving us a morning call. I will highly recommend it to anyone who is planning a trip on the way to the Road to Hana.

United States of AmericaThe Kettle would not work so we boiled water on the stove in a pan.
We had a very pleasant stay, not too far from the Airport. We loved the beaches, it rained a lot and it was very windy... The apartment met all our expectations. A very good deal. Thanks Stefano

United States of AmericaHaiku is a central location to reach the beaches in South Maui and West Maui, only about 25 minutes from the airport, and already on the start of the road to Hana to allow an early start. It is also a little closer to the Haleakala summit than most of the resort areas. Haiku is outside the main tourist areas but still has a few restaurants and a nice store, and Paia isn't too much further.

United States of AmericaThere was no view from our room. It was located next to the parking area so we kept our drapes closed which was kind of depressing. Also, the person upstairs was very noisy all night long.
Nice big studio. Clean room and comfortable bed. We love the Haiku area of Maui.

CanadaThe only downside is to walk places you have to walk along the state highway. There's a shoulder so it's not completely unsafe but just take note!
Very good place if you're looking to avoid staying in resorts and very touristy areas. The town of Haiku is cute, very centrally located on the island. The apartment is a short drive or 30 min walk to grocery store, cafes, restaurants. The apartment is pretty comfy and clean (thin walls so if you're a light sleeper you might hear some noise). Great value for money. The owner provides access to some beach equipment which was also really nice.

United States of AmericaVery minor, The fridge didn't seem to always keep stuff cold, but happy to have a fridge with separate freezer and the freezer worked, so could make ice for drinks. Bed was a little squishy but not atypical. It took a bit to figure the fan remote and TV remote, but they worked fine. We used our own streaming service, not sure what TV service is included. Par for the course in most of Haiku, there aren't sidewalks, so be careful walking at night, or drive at night. The upstairs unit gets warm in the sun (obvious), so keep the fans running. All very minor.
Wonderful spacious studio for 2 people. Could easily have fit another. Liked the extra futon couch. Nice big bathroom. Nice size dining table with 4 chairs. Decent studio style cooking facilities and stainless pots/pans. Place was clean, all bedding was clean, place had broom and towels and sponges. Big enough apartment style building so that other guests seemed adequately separate. Decent amount of space to dry wet towels/water gear. Internet was decent. Hosts were very responsive to questions that I texted. Closets and rack for luggage. Some beach gear in garage, like flippers, goggles, a few boogie boards, beach chairs. Quiet residential neighborhood

United KingdomKitchen appliances were rather old and difficult to operate because the writing had rubbed off. Not sufficient small knives and not enough mugs. Two beach chairs were damaged but just about usable. Rooms very hot and smelly when we arrived home in the late afternoon. Would benefit from some air conditioning or at least better fans.
Location was excellent for our purpose. Enjoyed balcony view. Provision of beach equipment was welcome. Bathroom and shower facilities were excellent.
