To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

New ZealandThe floor of my room was not cleaned during my stay. Getting cabs was tricky and I would have expected reception to phone cabs. I had a 2.5 hour wait with the company/number they supplied. Not everyone has Uber.
The breakfast was nice but the atmosphere/decor could have been more in tune with the rest the hotel's decor. Plants or pictures would break up the sterility.

United States of AmericaWas not expecting to pay $25 for parking, and the breakfast provided for $15/person was very minimal - it was what you might expect for a free breakfast elsewhere. Eggs were (yuck), fresh fruit was good. No warm oatmeal, omelets, or anything personalized about the breakfast experience. We jog every morning, and the nearby park .2 miles away was full of homeless making camp there - which caused us to hoof it to Loose Park 1 mile away, very beautiful park. It was advertised as “airport” but the airport is a good 30 minutes away.
The facility is beautiful, and at first look I was very excited about staying here.
