To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

CanadaThe hotel takes a deposit daily and the amount of that deposit may vary depending upon whether u have purchased on site. So every day I would get notification from my bank that I was being charged and in varying amounts. Everything was fine in the end, it simply represented a deposit method which I had not encountered. Felt the staff could have been more transparent on this issue. The other issue is that the wi-fi, which is free, is unsecured, which I found odd for such a great hotel.
The location of the hotel is fabulous. It’s two blocks from a main subway line, which we utilized purchasing a 3 day pass, and close to the museums and memorials. The gym is state of the art and very clean. The breakfast was excellent and great bar to enjoy a drink. It’s also relatively close to the Old Ebbitt Grill, which we found to have the best food, drinks and atmosphere. Instead of trying to get a reservation we just sat at the bar which was great. Don’t miss the tour of the Capitol and the Library of Congress which were awesome.

United States of AmericaOnly small issue was lack of cold water from the room facets but didn’t impact our stay.
The location was great to explore the National Mall area and Capitol sights! The hotel is close to two metro stops- Gallery and Metro Center so it’s easy to get around the city via subway. Our room was very quiet and clean. The staff were so helpful and friendly, we would definitely stay again when we come back to DC.

United States of AmericaUnfortunately our stay did not get the maximum score because the cooling system was not working well. After the first night we changed room, but the problem remained. In theory the temperature control was in the room, but it never worked according to our command.
The hotel is in a great location, the staff is extremely helpful and polite and the dining options at the hotel are excellent. The room was very clean and comfortable.

United States of AmericaThe room ( standard king ) does not have any storage space, like shelfs or drawers for small personal items. The water in the shower is extremely hot, difficult to regulate the temperature.
Breakfast was excellent, the hotel location is very convenient, center of the city.

United States of AmericaThis is a wonderfully appointed hotel. However, there was one really strange situation. We planned to be in town for 7 days so we had lots of clothes. Unfortunately, our room did not have a dresser, shelf, table, or anywhere else but a closet to store our clothes. I mean no where -- not one piece of furniture in which to store our unpacked clothes. We were told it was a "design choice"....No freakin' furniture as a design choice. And mind you, the room was spacious and comfy. It just didn't make any sense!!! Everything else is wonderful. The shower is wonderful, the closet is ample, the bedding is excellent, too!!!
