To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaLocation was wonderful. Staff was Great! Informative and answered any questions. Bartender at the restuarant was great and friendly. Within walking distance or a short ride to all of the Attractions i.e.... Museums, White House, King Center. Also central location if wanting to take Uber or any other Public Transportation to other areas of the city. Rooms were exceptionally clean and decor was amazing. Bed comfortable. Me and my friends really enjoyed our stay and always appreciate an amazing hotel.

United States of AmericaHotel blamed Booking.com for "overbooking", so we got a room with 1 bed instead of 2 beds as per reservation. We had to use a sofa bed. We received $75 voucher for compensation. The room's window faced an internal, artificial courtyard. Pricey.

CroatiaWhen we arrived the hotel put a hold on my debit card for the amount of booking plus incidentals, which was $3000. Okay, standard procedure, I have no problem with that. On check-out I have paid the final bill, which was around $2500, but the hold for $3000 was not removed from my card at that time, leaving me with almost no money available on my card, which was a real inconvenience during our trip home. Also, it was pure luck that I actually had that extra $3000 available on my card at that time, because I really didn't plan for this to happen. I'm not sure what would happen at check-out if I didn't have that money. I wouldn't be able to pay the bill! The hold was lifted about 3 weeks later because the hotel didn't do anything about it and it just expired. I wrote a complaint to the hotel, and they say that it's not up to them but that it's a card issuer policy. I still think the hotel could use a different process for final payment - convert the initial hold to the actual payment with the correct amount, instead of creating a completely new transaction and just letting the hold expire according to the card issuer policy. That way the guest wouldn't have an unnecessary hold put on their money. Be aware that you might need to have double the money or double the limit on your credit card if you're planning to stay at this hotel.
The hotel is new, modern and nice. The staff is friendly. The room was spacious and clean. The French restaurant on the ground floor had really good food.

SwitzerlandThe food was very good, especially the portions are very large and very tasty. our children could not finish their meals. There is no breakfast buffet, only à la carte food. but could wish for at least a buffet for breakfast.
The hotel is close to many attractions and is within easy walking distance. The main train station is only a 3-4 minute walk from the hotel, which was convenient for all subways and trains.

United States of AmericaThe noise from the other guests at 2am. There does not appear to be any insulation to dampen the sound from the hall or the rooms on either side.
The location was great. Equal distance to many things, and next to Union Station. The restaurant in the hotel was fantastic!! The staff was fabulous and so kind. The bed and pillows were so comfortable.

We loved the extra large room and the quiet it provided because we didn't have a window to the outside, which initially we didn't like but a relative there pointed out that it made it much quieter. I would say that those rooms need more light though. It was a very dark room.

United States of AmericaValet seemed chaotic in the beginning wasn't really directed on how it worked. Had to sort of "fall in line" because so many people were checking in at once. Cleaning staff was noisy at times (i stayed 3 days) i.e. hitting the walls next door with the vaccum cleaner repeatedly, talking loud in the hallway BUT they kept it clean & that I appreciate.
Very clean. Attentive, friendly, & helpful staff. Comfy beds. In/ Out valet parking privileges.
