I've stayed in various hostels in the past but never did I stay at a hostel that offered so much to its residents. The staff was immensely friendly and helpful, the hostel cute and colourful. I particularly enjoyed the back terrace where we could have breakfast or enjoy the still warm evening air. I felt safe from the level of security put in place, and all the utensils (in the kitchen) and the beach commodities (towels, surf boards, etc) put at our disposition made the hostel feel welcoming and full of adventures. Plus it was really clean! The location is great if you want a beach holiday, but there are many buses that would take you to the town centre, and the airport.

Wish the smoking area was more enclosed/separate. Couldn't really hang in the sunny part of the outdoor area w/o smelling lots of smoke. Bummer. Rooms are small - no wasted space there!

Location was terrific for surfers, and lots of shops, restaurants and some fun activities in the area. Very pretty decorations, clean, spacious hang-out areas, large women's only bathroom. Pretty far out of downtown for sightseeing there, but I didn't mind; bus to train was easy and cheap. Breakfast was great for a hostel with Aussie bite bars, two kinds of fresh fruit, cereal, waffles, peanut butter.... Lots of fridge space (1 cooler in the kitchen, 1 cooler in the nearby lounge area).

The only suggestion is that the lockers inside the rooms could be bigger… all of my stuff couldn’t fit and I had to leave it outside (which I had no problem at all) but even, would be nicer some bigger ones!

Very clean, comfy beds, great restrooms, fair breakfast and great staff and amazing price. Will stay there next time for sure!

If you do not like Ocean Beach and the Samesun Hostel there then you should give up backpacking...Banging music at Ocean Beach

Friendly people both staff and hostel dwellers. Bars a bit cheaper than LA with proper pints and free entry. Good competitive yet friendly welcoming pool playing at bars just up from the beach.. Winstons club had a truly great band playing with large group of banging musicians and multiple happening vocalists, great after a skin full of Hazy IPA, makes you dance on the wind, you just don't want it to stop...

I think it better to offer 4 bed shared room as 6 bed is too crowded. There are no curtains around the bedframe so there is little privacy in shared room. I stayed at Samesun Los Angeles and they have curtains installed for each bed.

It's very close to bus 34 stop and the beatuful Sunset Cliff Natural Park . Grocery shopping is convenient as there is Target and Krisp is right opposite the hostel.

The room was pretty small and the locker as well. It only fits a medium size backpack.

This Hostel had a really nice vibe, great location, nice staff. It was also nice to find the possibility of sharing food, beach gear and towels, toiletries, among other things. Highly recommended and given the chance, I would stay here again

Staff was friendly and professional. Check in was great. We received a tour which was very impressive. All the staff in between were great. The guests were eccentric and everyone seemed pretty comfortable with one another. Plenty of restroom options. Love the gender neutral restrooms, which allows privacy. The room smelled nice and was comfy. We will return. Excellent job!!

my bunk bed was a little squeaky / had some movement

Sparkling clean, well-equipped & organized hostel on the main street of OB. I had a great short stay! Good vibes from the other guests & friendly front desk staff. Great choice if you want to save some $ but be close to the beach in this wonderful neighborhood.

I didn't like that you could hear music and people walking down the hallways, but they provided ear plugs that helped a little.

We had the private queen room for 2. It's not luxurious, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The people are nice. And it's in a fantastic location near the beach, shops, and restaurants. There's also a shared kitchen that has a microwave, hot water kettle, fridge, sink, plates, utensils, cups, and storage cubbies.
