Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandLocation was stellar: very nice, friendly and safe neighbourhood. A lot of eating options around the place (Columbus Avenue, Little Italy, etc.). Also, on the other road side, there was a very friendly cafe, great to work in all day, with great bagles. And on the other side, there was a laundromat. It was in walking distance from a 7/11 and a Trader Joes. Cleanlieness was 7/10, not the cleanest (not 10/10), but definitely hygienic and very usable, the room as well as restrooms and bathrooms. Coming from Switzerland, which is used to very high cleaning standards, it was very acceptable. Also, it had a nice coffee machine with 20 options (hot choc, tea, etc.) that was free from 7 am to 1 pm, so that was awesome. Very cute and cozy hotel with a lot of history. Rooms were small, but we were coming for a work trip, and were out most of the day. Hotel doesn't have a working space, but the cafe on the other road side is perfect.

Belgiummy room had no window (well, technically it had a window on the corridor but that had to be blinded unless I wanted everyone to see me in my room, and even then there would be no air recharge) so not only it smelled shut but there was no chance to let any fresh air in (for who knows how long)
well located, helpful staff and vintage building with the taste how life more than 100 years ago, the area was also nice and near pier 39. Given the prices in the city, this was very democratically priced.

New ZealandThe room was a wee bit small for 2 people with big bags, but that's an oversight on our part really.
Fantastic location, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The shared facilities were clean and most toiletries provided too. The coffee machine in the reception was a great bonus!

Czech RepublicOlder and sometimes smelly room but it was because of the older equipment. Really great value for money.
Nice and safe location, close to the downtown and Fisherman's Wharf. Coffee and water refill for free during the day. Added value: public mouthwash and other bathroom amenities.

United KingdomIf your looking for a safe room to get your head down and adventure out it's perfect, but if your looking for anything else included then this isn't the hotel for you, best on a budget and helpful staff 😎
Like stepping back in time staying here. Good option for a budget as it's close to everything and friendly staff. The facilities although shared were clean and a quiet environment. Good for back packers who want abit of space away from people instead of a hostel. The staff also will look after bags which helped when I checked out as my flight wasn't until the evening so it left me to enjoy the bay area.

Czech RepublicThe room smelled a bit after some desinfection but it was nothing that bad and one of the bathroom was not seem to be very clean and to get the hot water we waited maybe more than 5 minutes. But the other bathroom was quite good.
The location was pretty good near to pier and there were not much homeless people. Also the staff was pretty helpful, they let us leave our baggages for few hours in the hotel after we checked out.

United States of AmericaIt is a delightful hotel built in 1908 so is old but in very good condition. It is not luxurious but is memorable. Loved the photos of newspaper articles from early 1900s, the feeling of being back in time. Bed was very comfy and hotel was quiet (except for the early morning trash truck if you get a room by the alley!). The staff were pleasant and helpful. Warning: not for those with mobility issues (no elevator) and tiny toilet rooms, shared. But the location is excellent and price amazing for SF!

Czech RepublicThe bathroom is common for all guests, but this is written in description on booking. I appreciate the old-fashion style of this hotel, but some fresh air will be good. :)
This hotel has a unique spirit, like from the Mafia game. Rooms are quite small, but clean. Ideal for short trips with strong experience. Location is the best benefit, you are 5min walk from Pier39.

FinlandThe shared bathrooms and showers in the hallway and not inside the rooms can be a dealbreaker for some, but this is not your run-of-the-mill backpacker euro hostel.
We absolutely LOVED this hotel with it’s rich history, that has been operational in this same building since 1906! The history practically oozes through the falls, with lovely decoration details scattered throughout its hallways and rooms. The shared shower cabinets and toilets were small, but functioned well and all tough small, our room had everything we needed for our 3 day trip. The coffee machine also deserves a mention! It provides the guests surprisingly great coffee from 7am to 1pm for FREE, and I strongly recommend to use it during your stay. Cafés nearby the hotel ask $5 to an americano, that honestly isn’t even better than what these cafe’s give you. But undeniably the best part of this hotel is location, location, location! Situated in the safe and historical North Beach, there are many interesting sites all within a walking distance of this hotel: Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, The Coit Tower, Alcatraz ferries. All of these are 15-25 min walking distance from the San Remo Hotel.
