one suggestion for improvement is to rake the rocks from the volleyball court. hurts to fall on

There is nothing negative - maybe consider that this is a resort and you won't be able to park next to the room. The parking spaces are close to reception and guests are moved within the resort by the staff. However, they were always fast and available 24h.

It was a good surprise - it was so good that we decided to stay an extra night. The hotel is renovating the rooms - we stayed the first night in a newly renovated room and the second night in one of the old rooms. The new rooms are very nice and modern, but even the old room was very comfortable. The staff was very supportive and always ready to help. The restaurant is also extremely good. For the second day, we ordered the breakfast to the room and the food came at the time requested. The quality was great. The views from the rooms were amazing, with open view to the beach and sea.

Well it would have been nice if some one could have told us that it was being remodeled during the time we booked it. We of course didn't get a new unit but the old one. And we were told we got a room upgrade but we didn't.

We love the location . The salt wood breakfast was great and well worth it. They were on time and the meal was very good and their staff were very friendly and nice. Great job guys

I wish I had a bigger desk and chair for my computer. The rooms need some updating, however, I understand that's in the process of happening.

My room had an excellent beach and scenic view. The room was quiet, spacious and convenient for walking around the complex. I enjoyed the hospitality of the staff. They went out of their way to make me feel welcome.

Sanctuary lets lodgers bring there dogs. Now I do not mind pets, but I do mind when there owners let them bark for most of the night, not a good thing when you are paying $1000 a night!

I had a Deluxe room and that means the Beach/Ocean is directly out the sliding glass door which is great! View of Course is excellent and at night you can see the Monterey Pier all lit up at night. The Fire Place in the room is the heater and you can crank it up and open the sliding glass door to hear the Surf at night, let me tell you, I slept like a baby (that is when I slept ;) ).

A Big group of guests had loud music and took over the whole Play court . We could not even enjoyed that area during the couple of days . Some dog owners will not pick up after their dogs or keep dogs on leashes . The location needs a special green area for potty breaks . Not all over the sand .

To be able to have an Ocean front room , was a plus . To enjoy the sounds of the waves. To be able to enjoy a cup of coffee in the am and Wine in the sunset . To be able to bring our dog and take her for nice walks at the beach . Very nice and peaceful sanctuary . This is one of our favorite spot in Cali.

only downside was the room service/restaurant. breakfast was inconsistent and expensive for what you got. dinner at the restaurant was very disappointing and $$$. service was a hot mess, which i can forgive if the food is great, but it was not. seriously need a new chef. the artichoke and crab dip was terrible! hard to find artichoke in it let alone crab. it was a bowl of under seasoned, undercooked chunks of onion and celery! cioppino had a weird very strong acid flavor and it came with the bread already mushy from being set in the soup. the kids chicken tenders were inedible - so over cooked and flavorless.

location was awesome. beautiful view from the balcony. room was comfortable for a family of 4.

There is no secured wi-fi network, so if you are planning to work with that amazing ocean view - forget about it!

The place is amazing with great location just by the ocean, very quite It has fire pits on the beach that you can enjoy after dusk. It was a little windy and felt a little colder than in Monterey, so bring some warm clothes.

The main reception and restaurant are stellar design. The cottages and cabins have good bones but my room was aesthetically tired and I was bothered by noise from the suite above mine (toilet flushes and heavy footsteps) indication needed!

Meals at salt wood were excellent. Breakfast room service was less successful.

Parking was not near our room, and the rooms did not have central heating and air. The heat source was an electric fireplace, not a sufficient source for damp, foggy days and nights.

Excellent view of the ocean, with long stretches of beach. It was a little chilly and foggy during our stay, so we spent much of our time relaxing & enjoying the warmth of the jacuzzi .

if in a downstairs unit, you can hear people walking around In upstairs unit. the sliding glass doors with view facing ocean were very dirty which was a shame. the steam from the shower set off the smoke alarm as I didn’t close the door to the bathroom (maybe warn guests to close bathroom door when showering or move smoke alarm).

The ants that were all over the floor and the counter in the kitchenette. They were everywhere but luckily maintenance came and took care of it right away.

This is where my husband and I got married. We stay at Sanctuary every year on our wedding anniversary. We stayed in an Oceanfront Suite and it was lovely. Gorgeous views and such a lovely and cozy atmosphere. It is our favorite place to stay in the Monterey bay.

Not being able to have my car near the room. The great view I paid extra for was of the sand...I could barely see the water. The room was in need of updating. The bathroom sink was cracked. There was no door to the bathroom for the bathtub. Not good when traveling with family. The only heating option is to run the fireplace and then you have to leave a window open to try to regulate the temperature. Neighbors upstairs walked around like elephants!

The pool and hottub were clean and warm. The grandkids loved the kids pool. The beach is right outside your door. They provide plenty of chairs to sit in both at the pool and beach. Breakfast is pricey but good and delivered to your door. The restaurant on-site is delicious.

we went to the Salt Wood restaurant on a Tuesday night & found the food & service a bit mediocre for the amount of money we paid.

we had a wonderful stay! service was top notch & the grounds were so well kept. we enjoyed the nightly beach bonfires & the hot tub/pool area was exceptional. the breakfast basket deliveries were so convenient & delicious. the rooms were clean & well kept, but the bathrooms were dated. nothing beats the location & the beautiful ocean & nature just outside our door. we enjoyed daily whale watching from our room & the beach outside! we had a lovely time.

Wished that the room be vacuumed and tidied each day given the sand around the property. There were ants in the sink/kitchen area. Restaurant rates were pricey.

Liked that my request for a room with a view of the beach and the sea was provided. Liked that my request for microwave and refrigerator was provided. Liked the room was a suite.
