Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Bed a bit too firm, no parking.
Love this small hotel, good location Shattuck, restaurants, grocery, all you need. Room clean, nice big walk in shower, had small balcony/porch, staff very helpful and love that Cafe is there in am!!

Thin walls…I could hear people snoring in the other room most of the nights. Bistro hours do not match with hours posted on google. No vegan options for breakfast
Proximity to campus and walk friendly. It’s a very cute location. 24 hour check in. Free coupons for drinks

Feel bad about ringing bell to be let in after cafe hours.
Loved the location, close to nice neighborhood and restaurants, and the attached cafe. Definitely a meeting place for locals. Good cup of coffee in the morning.

The hotel was vacant, so a single female would be slightly safer on a higher floor. I was given 102.
There was free coffee. There was not free breakfast. The location is central to wonderful restaurants and backs up to a nice neighborhood with overnight fee parking. Shares a side of building with a grocery store, but was quiet overnight. Breakfast pastries looked good. I love Cheeseboard Collective next door. I will stay again. Nice microwave and mini fridge. Shower was modern and large. Spacious room that was well decorated. They’re doing the most with what they’ve got. Not a new Hyatt in Emeryville, so if that’s your heart’s desire, enjoy that. This hotel is perfect for my preferences.

No on site parking but free street parking was available at night and hotel is right next to Andronico’s parking lot. Noisy refrigerator and heater at times.

Location is perfect. Love going down to the Cafe in the morning and taking with the people. Love walking Berkeley. Room are consistent and comfortable. A little aged, but nice. Lots of good restaurants nearby.

Rug was either dirty or stained. It looked unclean compared to rest of room.
Location great. Room clean overall, bed comfy. Coffee bar was great. Coffee great and they had oatmeal that was delish for very reasonable prices.

Refrigerator compressor was quite noisy.
Nice facility in a great location in Berkeley. Parking next door was reasonably priced. Liked the coffee shop/hotel lobby. Staff was pleasant, efficient, and knowledgeable.

A little room confusion when we arrived but was taken care of.
Love the balcony rooms to sit outside in the late afternoon. Great bed and amenities. Our third stay here and will use everytime we are in Berkeley. Free cup of coffee each day at the Bistro downstairs. In the same block as a Safeway market, and Cheeseboard Collective for great muffins and pizza.

They need to put in their listing.." go thru the coffee shop to the back to find the check in desk" I had to ask the coffe shop person where reception was. There isn't someone at the reception desk all the time. There isn't a coffee machine in the room. You get a coupon for coffee but the shop doesn't open till 0630. If you're on east coast time that translates to 0930.
I liked the location and the walkability of the location.

It was a 25 minute walk to the Cal campus, but that's okay. I can't really think of anything bad.
Access to a cafe and restaurants made it a good place to stay.

We have literary friends we appreciate meeting in the lobby/cafe. Also I had a business meeting that went on for several hours on a Monday and were quite comfortable. Of course, we ordered drinks and goodies as we were occupying a table for quite a while. I consider that "office rent!"

Very interesting property. The location is outstanding for restaurants, coffee shops (Cheese Board Collective has the best breads and cheese, and the pizza was obviously extremely popular). Also close to UC campus. Staff was excellent and helpful. Room fairly small but very well-designed. I was concerned about noise but it was never a problem for us. Overall great experience, we will stay there again the next time we are in Berkeley.
