The facility is beautiful with tons of historical information about the Shaker community. The staff is exceptional, and the office is staffed 24/7. The rooms are incredibly clean, and the beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept on in a hotel.

We stumbled onto this gem. We were in the area for a special occasion and were struggling to find an affordable place to stay. Luckily, we saw an ad for Shaker Village and booked three nights. We had a peaceful stay on a beautiful piece of land. Our kids (4 and 2) loved visiting the animals and exploring the property.

Stairs, my fault for not enquiring.

Found this quaint village by accident, what fun it was. A Shaker village on 32 acres of farmland. Don't be surprised if you spend a bit of time exploring and reading their history as well as walking the pathways to see the animals, visit the shops, and to enjoy the restaurant. I forgot to ask about steps when I booked my room, I have knee issues and I struggled to get my suitcases up to my room. I found out later they would have helped me. The room was a delight from the hardwood floors, to the rugs, the windows overlooking the area as the sun set and the village lights came on, the antique furniture, the design of the room, even the locks on the doors. While walking some of the paths at dusk I discovered there were areas that had campfires set up! Did you ever find any of this at a place you just booked to get a good night's sleep?!

You can hear other people in the hotel. It is true to the original Shaker Village so soundproofing wasn’t a thing

I love the calm, serene, simplicity of this hotel. The sheep with baby lambs. The dining room is delicious. The lack of lights in the property staying true to the original village so you can see the night sky.

I had biscuits and sausage gravy. Not much sausage in the gravy. Had to pay extra to add fruit. Fruit was limited to grapes and strawberries. I expected more variety. Also seems that fruit should be included in this entrée selection. Regarding lodging: the noise from other guests just walking in the hallway and accessing their rooms transmitted easily into our room due to big gap under the door. Light from hallway was also coming into room under the door at night. We eventually laid pillows on the floor at the bottom of the door to block the light.

breakfast was decent, but a bit pricey. Also variety of choices was limited. We would like to come back to explore the property. The weather did not permit us to make use of the extensive trails. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The bath supplies and coffee were great! I also enjoyed reading a bit about the history of the village from the book that was provided in the room.

My only complaint is that the television didn’t have access to all the cable channels, including CNN and MSNBC. Also the pathways to the rooms are poorly lit. We came during the day and located our room; if we had come, for the first time, at night, it would have been impossible to locate our room.

They could use some better sidewalks to the buildings. But this is minor. Everything else was as one expect from a nineteenth century building. The rooms are not well lit, but that adds to the ambiance.

The hotel is actually a converted rooming area for the Shaker community. It is very rustic, but has all the amenities which one would expect of a hotel room. They also have a nice gift shop and restaurant.
