Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Location is central but right next to park full of people taking drugs. Did not feel safe.

The location of this hotel changed, a little. It used to be right across from Trader Joe's and Union Market. Now, it's a few blocks away. It felt less convenient and a little less safe, but I didn't have any issues. I also wish there was a rug in the facilities, since I do yoga and the hard floors were more challenging :).
I love this hotel, having access to a full apartment with kitchen and laundry. The size of the rooms are really comfortable as well!

NOMA is an up and coming neighbourhood that is clearly bring gentrified. However it’s quite far out and the USA is not known for its public transport

There was a serious flaw in the check-in procedure. The access code to the room was emailed to us on the morning we were supposed to check-in. Basically they sent us the information we needed while we were already on the airplane and we do not have access to our email on our phones. While we can access our email server across the Internet using our proprietary VPN, that VPN capability is not on our phones. If it wasn't for the kindness of the security personal, we would not have been able to check in at all. My wife pointed out that the water in one of the bathrooms never got really hot. The sink cabinet was pulling away from the wall in the room as well.

the location in middle of junkies does not make you secure when going out. Suburd is soso. not much place for lunch or diner so you need to walk out in midde of the junkies jungle.

The neighborhood definitely has some problems. Unsafe after dark. People approach asking for money or cigarettes all day. Drug deals openly taking place on the sidewalk not far from front door. Lots of police activity in the area.

In the apartment you will not find the spices for cooking and any oil. That is really bad. Me and my wife felt that the location is in criminal streets, because it’s next to weeds stores and with liquor store, where everyday a lot of drunk, noisy and suspicious people. That is why we tried to avoid any connections with them and tried to come at apartment as early as we can.
The apartment is really clean and good condition. The bed is comfortable to sleep. We connected to Netflix and watched some movies. The location is next to the Washington Downtown around of 10-15 minutes.

Except the location.. 1) I don’t recommend it to drivers. Front av is always suffered by huge traffic. 2) I don’t recommend it to the traveller with kids. The district is not very friendly. Not intimidating though.

The local begger’s begging for money in the vicinity. Felt uncomfortable waiting outside the building. While waiting for an Uber stayed in the front vestibule until it was in view.
Our room was excellent, great views.

I had a horrible check in experience- the force you to fill out an online form that is not working on all browsers and literally tell you to go to another hotel if you encounter any issues with the online form instead of helping you out ???- the receptionist told me that nice words around midnight - the first and only hotel where the receptionist told me I CAN’T HELP YOU WITH THE CHECK IN ??? since the hotel is digitalized ???- I had to force myself another 20 minutes through the online form wait for a verification and access codes very frustrating cumbersome experience

This is an amazing hotel/apartment. Washing machine, with powder provided. Huge room with a fully working kitchen area, massive fridge. The bed and pillows are very, very comfy. Good quality shower gel etc. Good gym facility. Staff were really nice. No key card just a code for entrance to hotel and room, this really worked efficiently.

The criminals that walk the back alley and beggars when you go outside on the side of the building to get to your car would be standing there asking for money.
We loved it there! The only negative about it was the parking and the traffic of people in the alley which wasn’t so great! Sometimes you would get waken up by the loud hollering from the people yelling outside in the back alley.

Nothing to note if you’ve lived in a city. Not the location for the novice city goer.
The accommodations. Both the staff and the room exceeded expectations. Keya went above and beyond to check me in early which was incredibly impactful of my visit. The room had everything you’d ever need for a long stay let alone a night, weekend. Loved the keypad entry to the building and the room.
