Both times I've booked this hotel, I've gotten in late from the airport. Both times the line at the front desk was crazy. I guess they are all people with vouchers from airlines. But the front desk will prioritize booked rooms but they didn't tell people that. All they need is a simple sign that says vouchers wait here .. when i have a short layover i don't want to spend most of it in line.

Lack of light and breakfast area

The staff was nice and helpful. We had some noise in the room and they immediately agreed to change it for us. The second room was really better because the first one did not have much light. Hotel would definitely benefit from some renovations, quite outdated but overall ok for one night. We did not use it but I found the Shuttle tracker behind the front desk very great.

We paid for room with pool view but pool was being renovated so we had workmen outside of window instead. Hotel said they told booking.com no pool available. Yet booking.com still charged us to upgrade, and didn't tell us about the pool closure. Shame no T. bags in the room. ☹ Not all of us like coffee.

I was not aware I had to pay for parking or for breakfast. Even when we checked in the desk staff didn't tell us. The next morning the the staff for breakfast told us and also told us that they should have told us when we checked in and gave us a coupon voucher for a few dollars off. I didn't waste my time paying $27 for a basic buffet breakfast that price was ridiculous.

Pool under refurbishment, no communication during booking or on arrival. We arrived from a 5 hour road trip and went to the pool on level 2 to find it being refurbished. We went back to our room to have a rest there instead. Spoke to reception in the evening expressing our disappointment and lack of communication. We were then told we can use the pool at another hotel, by this time it was too late and we were going for food.

We reported a couple problems in the bathroom and were assured they would be taken care of.

After several hours freezing at MIA airport which was struggling with irregular operations due to record rainfall, we booked probably the last room at the Sonesta and enjoyed a very comfortable room for the remainder of the day and evening. We also appreciated the complimentary bus shuttle.

Breakfast buffet was fine, but about the same as an included breakfast at a lesser hotel. Seemed expensive at $17/pp, which was the discounted price.

Good handicap accessible room, very clean, allowed 1 hr. late checkout. Excellent shuttle service from airport.
