Beautiful river view from 3rd floor suite with balcony

    • Standard King Room Non-Water View
    • Stayed 2 nights

The first room given to us was very small and located farthest from the front desk and activities of the hotel. The place was pretty vacant, so we weren't sure why we were placed so remotely. We arrived 9p Wednesday night from NJ and stayed until Friday morning March 12-14, we are a couple in our 50s. Our first room had handicap access with a very very small shower. We did not request a disability room. The TV had no signal, the lamp did not turn on, and at 2am, I woke up sweating because the HVAC system was broken, and we couldn't turn the heat off. I did not sleep for more than 2 hours; this nearly ruined our short stay because I was so tired. The icing was the presence of men's shaving hair in the bathroom sink-except that we hadn't used the bathroom yet, disgusting. The next morning, we promptly spoke with the hotel Manager, and he went above and beyond to correct all of the issues. He quickly offered us a viewing of 3 other rooms, and we settled on the best room in the house with a huge balcony overlooking the river. It was on the 3rd floor, had a king-sized bed and a large seating area. The one-bedroom suite had sliding glass doors which opened onto the balcony, beautiful. We ate dinner on our second night's stay at the Harbour Lights restaurant in our hotel We sat outside on the rooftop overlooking the river and had a gorgeous view. The place was very vacant of customers. The food was good, not great with the exception of the bread pudding which is the best I have ever eaten. The service was excellent however likely would not eat there again. The town of St. Michael: The very small but quaint town center has mostly retail shops with a limited number of places to eat. Options include Italian, a small pub and cafe and a few other places that were closed. We settled on a casual wine and pizzeria which was good but not great. One glass of cabernet was $18! Would never go back there. Many things were closed because its off-season, not sure.

Hotel has rooms with water view options. Rooftop bar/restaurant is available. Bicycle rentals are included in fee for guests to use. A few rooms have a large balcony that overlooks the Miles River. Very relaxing to sit on the deck and watch the harbor sights.

I WAS SHOCKED AT THE SIZE OF THE TV BUT WHO REALLY WATCHES TV ON VACATION? MY ONLY ISSUE OR REQUEST IS THAT WHEN ROOM SERVICE IS SERVICING THE ROOM, THEY WEAR HAIR NETS. THERE WAS HAIR IN THE BATHROOM. ON THE FLOOR AND COUNTERTOP THAT DID NOT BELONG TO ME OR MY PARTNER. AND I SPENT TIME WIPING AND TRYING TO CLEAN THE HAIR UP.

THE VIEW WAS AWESOME AND TRANQUIL. I GOT LOST IN JUST WATCHING THE BIRDS PLAY ON THE WATER. WHEN IT RAINED IT WAS SO RELAXING. I WOULD RETURN TO RELAX IN THE ROOM. I ENJOYED THE TUB IN THE LIVING ROOM SPACE. IT WAS A PERFECT ROOM HONESTLY. EVERYONE WAS SO FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL. I DID NOT FEEL AS IF I WAS IN THE WRONG PLACE

The main lobby had an odor, that was similar to that of a hospital/nursing home, which didn’t make for a great welcome. There was only 1 microwave and ice machine for the entire 3-floored hotel, which was located on the first floor. This was inconvenient. The water pressure in the shower was very low and the water wasn’t always hot, making showering kind of unpleasant. The room was clean in some areas, however, there were areas that were unkept.

The staff was extremely pleasant and professional. They were very accommodating! The room was extremely spacious and had a beautiful view of the marina. The location was perfect, very close to the main strip. There was a complimentary shuttle which drove you to and from your destination in St. Michael’s. There was a tea/coffee maker on each floor, which was very convenient. There was a refrigerator in the room, which was convenient and we were provided glasses/wine glasses for drinking. There was also a restaurant located in the hotel, which made dining convenient, if you don’t want to leave the hotel.

No hot water in the shower. Had scorching hot water for the jacuzzi tub.. but luke warm water for the shower... very odd.. like it was a different water line for that.

Our room was small, no chairs or desk. The body scrub process was uncomfortable when they wrapped you up in blankets with all the scrub still on and let you ‘soak’ for 10 minutes.

Location was central to great restaurants, shops and wine tasting. Lyon distillery is not to be missed. The dark rum is amazing! The Spa is on site. I had 2 massage and 1 body scrub. I liked the massages best and Rene is superb at her craft. Favorite place to eat -Ava’s. Casual, great energy, sit at the bar and interact with the bartender and order the house made potato chips while you wait for your pizza. Order early if you want the Detroit style deep dish pizza. It goes fast!! The Village market is another gem. Cheeses from worldwide, premade entrees, butcher shop and a good selection of adult bev.. Looking forward to another trip.
