Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

No A/C in the room had to switch after a long day of driving. Neighbors blasted music at late hours and staff saw but said nothing to them.

Same choices for breakfast the next day. Pool was not open (March). Fitness center was hard to find. Landscaping was minimal.
Comfortable, quiet room had everything we needed. Clean, and the TV, fridge, and microwave worked. We ate at the on-site restaurant - a little pricey for the salad bar, but it was good and the staff was friendly. We ate the complementary breakfast - food was pretty good - several options.

The A/C was very loud. The water in the bathtub didn't drain and maintenance and housekeeping didn't come.
We appreciated the restaurant at the hotel. Service and food were great. The breakfast was also good.

Breakfast was shambolic due to a lack of staff. It was potentially a good motel breakfast but there were constant shortages of item provision. Hot food but no cutlery or lots of cutlery but no food. Hot pancakes but no syrup . Cups but no juices or vice versa. The two staff tried hard but with such a busy facility they needed at least two more. Cost cutting is obviously the problem so few staff, and that goes for the provision of horribly inadequate plastic cutlery and juice cups - so they do not need washing-up staff. Never mind saving the planet from plastic overload. The restaurant was OK for dinner but rather expensive not helped by the unacceptable 3% extra charge for paying by card. To add insult to injury this surcharge was made before the tip percentage!
This was a large motel-style inn attractively set out with trees and lots of room for cars so that it did not feel crowded. The room was a good size and well presented. Staff were generally available and helpful.

The motel is located on the main road through town. We requested a room toward the back of the property and didn’t hear any road noise. The A/C unit works well, but it is noisy.
Good location, welcoming and helpful staff, non-smoking property, spacious room with nice amenities, very clean, comfortable bed, shower had good water pressure, decent on-premise restaurant with a great salad bar. This is an older property but the rooms have been nicely updated. It’s also nice that this property allows small pets for a reasonable fee.

Shower fixtures were old and not working properly. The rest of the shower seemed clean and well maintained. I have a feeling they put the old shower head back on after renovating the shower which is just unacceptable. New shower heads are like $10 at home depot and take 3 minutes to change, and make a massive difference in your experience staying at a hotel.
Bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Free breakfast was good.

They were doing some maintenance work while we were there but we were out of season so that should not generally affect visitors
A very comfortable room. There is a launderette on site which was useful for us as we are traveling for a month. Also restaurant on site.

Room heater was barely capable of warming the room. It had tone set very high. There was no easy access to a power port for the desk. I had to search to find a power strip hidden behind the TV and it was a long way from the desk. What is a desk for anyway? To work with a computer duh.
