Sorry to be critical, but the Gervais room needs a shower equivalent to the capital room. Lose the tub, move the sink into the room, change out the toilet to a normal one. Anyway…you have the room and know what you need to do. In the morning 4:30, I was startled by a guy riding a bike around in the neighborhood. I saw him a few times and that concerned me. We had no issues, but that was unusual for such an early hour.

We had two rooms, the Gervais and Capital room. We arrived in the evening and left early in the morning. Everything was clear as to getting into the home and rooms. Loved how big and spacious the rooms are and the beds are so comfy. My family members who slept in the Capital room said they slept extremely well, so that was good to hear. We didn’t see anybody else while we were there…so that felt strange but I didn’t mind.

Old reviews say this is a B & B , but now it is entry by code, and breakfast is no longer served. There are no human beings, save for other guests, on the property.

Good location, very quiet, with off street parking. The inn was very clean, with a nice common area.

The instructions for parking behind can be clearer like tell guests to enter from Bull St and look for the sign. It was dark and rainy when we arrived so I had to drive around the block a few times just because we haven’t stayed before.

Easy parking and entry. No staff present - I was glad I read reviews and could set my expectations

It was all great with the exception- and my mistake- I thought GB t it was a bed and breakfast- no breakfast- also a little confusing about the room- I arrived very late and did not catch in the text message that the the rooms were named and that was my room - sat on a sofa for a bit trying to figure out which room was mine- I was just probably tired.

    So comfy and safe feeling.

I didn't mind it, and I actually enjoyed it, but something to consider is that there is no one on site. Pam made sure to let us know that we could contact her if we needed anything, but if you are looking for a bed and breakfast, this is not really the vibe. They have a Keurig machine for coffee, a variety of tea bags, and offer a water cooler for fresh water. There was a bowl of fresh fruit (bananas and oranges), blueberry and plain bagels, a plate of cookies, a small fridge hosting some pre-packaged boiled eggs, butter, cream cheese and jelly, a microwave and a toaster in the dining room for snacks/breakfast. If you are looking for a place with breakfast included, this is probably not what you are expecting. We didn't mind because they are located so close to restaurants we wanted to try.

I loved how beautiful and cozy the house was. There was a festive Christmas tree lit up beside the stairs. The room we stayed in, The Rivers Suite, was spacious and clean, the bathroom was gorgeous, and the beds were so comfortable. Pam was super friendly and accommodating, considering there was a miscommunication beyond her control. She made it right, and my daughter and I were incredibly pleased with our rooms and our stay. I loved the keyless, coded entry feature. Enjoying my coffee and bagel on the balcony was a great start to my mornings while there. I have already recommended The 1425 Inn to friends and family. I loved that if you forget anything, they have a hallway closet containing shampoos, conditioners, body wash, razors, deodorant, etc..., there are also extra towels, washcloths and toilet paper located there.

Hard to fault it, though a fuller breakfast option would nudge it up to a 10/10 for me.

This is such a charming old property that has clearly been lovingly and carefully redesigned into a hotel. I loved the four-poster bed, antique furniture and plush rug in my room. Good shower too. I dealt with Pam during my stay (by text and phone), and she was extremely welcoming and professional. This is where I’ll stay whenever I come back to Columbia.

    1. Thought the shower was inconveniently small. 2. We came home from dinner at 9p and there were dirty dishes, glasses and silverware stacked up on the food table in the dining room. We had to leave early at 6a the next morning, but all that dirty stuff was still sitting there. Along with the three or four muffins from the night before. Just thought that could have been a little better and not a great look.

Location, cleanliness, furnishings, very nice property.

Had breakfast items, but missed the yogurt and hard boiled eggs from our last stay. Music in main area downstairs is only Frank Sinatra, Harry Connick Jr. or similar—kind of strange but inoffensive.

Location, cleanliness, character of building, quiet and uncrowded. Enjoyed our balcony in the morning.

The tub was precariuosly sloped toward the drain. So much that it was like standing on a hill and without the handle, I would have slipped a couple times. There isn't an iron or a coffee/tea maker though, so perhaps update this site? I wouldn't want food/drink in the room anyway, but I really could have used the iron! No hairdryer either - I didn't need one, but I notice the site here lists it. I think that might be a Booking issue, not the Inn. Only a closet with a single wire rack for clothes. Perhaps a small drawer unit would be nice for small items like underwear, socks, etc. The balcony light didn't work, perhaps a blown out bulb? (Not a big deal, just wanted to let you know.) However, it was a bit over priced for just a room to sleep and no other services.

It is a beautiful house inside and out! Very well maintained, and each room has its own AC without the noise. I loved the two big windows and the door to the balcony. The TV never got used, but wifi did, lol. Perfect parking in back, no problems and the camera surviellance on it made me feel better. The location is great - a simple walk to the downtown activities. The location is also plagued by night time issues of a big city - this is not the property owner's fault, the house was here first! The police do their best and even had a car parked nearby thru the night due to the larger crowds of this weekend's football game. A regular weekend wouldn't have had these issues. There's plenty of items downstairs for refreshments. There were muffins, yogurt, and bananas on the breakfast bar. You help yourself whenever. (Maybe this doesn't make it a traditional bed & "breakfast"?) They did give vouchers for a Sunday brunch at a local venue that was amazing! Beautiful front porch and nice to relax on in the evening, watching the sun go down. Great location to go for a run either evening or morning, or even just a walk to view all the historic homes and buildings. I never met any staff. I did communicate by phone and that was very quick and easy. Great customer service and short response times!

Our bathroom had been completely updated. It was beautiful. The entire home looked in GREAT condition, but we could only guess, the beautiful upgraded room we were in may had been recently painted because there were no pictures on the wall. There was a gorgeous rug, but minimal furniture and decor. It didn't change our minds that this wasn't the perfect place to stay, it was just a surprise. We will want to stay at the 1425 Inn in the future.

The home (the space) is far more grand than the pictures described. It was LOVELY!! It was clean and comfortable and quiet! I booked with Booking.com. Pam immediately responded. I mentioned "breakfast" which she was quick to clarify there wasn't breakfast included at the Inn and was so kind to say we didn't have to keep the reservation with my new understanding that there was no breakfast. We accepted her gracious response, and were happy to stay even without breakfast. I would highly recommend the rental of the entire home if a family or event were happening in Columbia!
