Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe hotel doesn’t have a lot of extra amenities - it was totally fine with us but if one is looking for included breakfast, gym, pool, etc. this is not the right place.
The Architect is extremely good value for money. The location is excellent for access to the Mall and museums, as well as to all the restaurants on 14th St. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Loved the rain shower. We were in town for a graduation and other hotels were charging a fortune; the Architect came through with a great stay at a reasonable price. Great coffee at Blue Bottle half a block up the street.

United Kingdom1. Our room was pretty quirky, being on the corner of the building and therefore strangely laid out, e.g. the wardrobe was so shallow that clothes hangers had to be angled in order to close the door. Therefore fine for a short city break, but not ideal for longer stays given limited room and storage space. 2. There was an extremely loud bathroom fan, which always came on when you turned on the light - not ideal if you need to visit in the middle of the night without disturbing your partner. 3. Upon entering the hotel, it would have been helpful to have a sign pointing to the reception area on the right hand side, as it wasn't immediately obvious (especially to very tired travellers).
We chose this hotel mainly due to its location within easy walking distance of the White House and multiple Metrorail stations (McPherson Square runs directly to Dulles on the Silver Line), plus nearby restaurants and coffee shops within a short walk (we recommend happy hour at Dauphine's!). No accommodation in DC is cheap - this is a no frills place, but it is clean and centrally located. There was some traffic noise given that the hotel is at an intersection, but not enough to keep us from a good night's sleep. Room was clean and comfortable, with spacious bathroom and drencher shower head. Window shutters were effective at blocking out most of the light as our room was on a higher floor. WiFi was free and worked well. Appreciated the multiple USB charging ports on both sides of the bed. There are 2 elevators to reach the upper floors. The hotel will store your luggage for you until 18.00 on the date of your departure (as long as there are no valuables being left).

United KingdomNo tea/coffee facilities in the room, had to go down 8 floors to make one. The staff did not replenish the hot water, milk substitute or ice. When my wife asked for these things the staff looked like it was a chore.

United States of AmericaNoise from the street was inescapable. Lobby coffee was horrid. Staff was unfriendly and quite cold. No service issues, just aloof. The bathroom fan was so loud it made spending time in the restroom uncomfortable.

United States of AmericaThis is a fairly bare bones hotel. A nice room. A lobby with basic coffee, hot water and a few tea bags. A noisy but efficient air conditioner. None of the extra amenities, such as. a chest of drawers or a fridge or coffee pot in the room. A basic accomodation made much more inviting by a caring front desk staff.
The front desk staff went out of their way to be friendly and very very helpful. They could not have been nicer, and this gave a very favorable impression of the hotel. The room was nicely furnished and was refurbished in the recent past with good lighting and outlets and a very nice bathroom. Shampoo, conditioner and towels were supplied, as was a hair dryer. Very good location, close to the White House and museums, and a block from a Metro stop.

it was lovely! affordable for its location (close to white house). old building, well preserved. Shin, the receptionist, was very helpful, respectful, always smiling. she was awesome. bathroom was spacious. love the shower head!

United States of AmericaThe entrance lobby has a flight of stairs which lead to reception/elevators and there's no one at hand to help with heavy luggage. This is the downtown part of the city and if you arrive on a weekend many restaurants and eateries are closed, otherwise there's a good selection within walking distance. Room was not cleaned in time one day even though it was 3 PM by the time we made it back. The safe box was not working, the only employee around (at reception) did what he could to help but ultimately had to place a request for maintenance the next day which never happened.
The best thing going for this place is its location. It's within walking distance to a couple of subway stations that made access to the city, hotel, attractions, and airport easy. Subways in Washington are some of the best in the country. The rooms are small and the decor and furnishing is early 20th century (think 1920's) which lends a "classy" but a bit passé aspect to the place. The bed was comfortable and the views to the street are decent. Bathrooms have been renovated and upgraded, and roomy. Within walking distance to museums and attractions.
